My first exposure to the spoken word was Taylor Mali's "What Teachers Make" video on YouTube. I saw my first real-life poetry days before my twenty first birthday, which I spent getting fourth in my first slam. I've been artistically influenced by every poet with a YouTube video: Taylor Mali, Anis Mojgani, Rives, Andrea Gibson, George Watsky, and so many more.
