Merah was first established in 2004
They were a 5 piece band playing mainly JROCK influenced malay pop rock originals.
In 2005, The band members went on their separate ways with the lead guitarist, Athif now playing with local band "Bhumiband" and
the Vocalist, Azly who is now with Local Band, "Danielle".

In 2006, Yazri , the original founder of the band , together with Eddy decided to re-establish Merah, with new players.
In mid 2006, They held an audition for guitarists and the frontman for the band. Shortly after many auditions, Ewan and Malex soon joined
the band as guitarists and Hafiz as the frontman for Merah.
In mid 2006, Merah started recording for their new mini-album titled, CINTAKU. They were signed by Production Edge as their Label and with Moe from vibes International as their Public Relations(PR) Manager.
Soon after the release of their mini-album, their songs were aired on National radio and with one of their songs titled, CINTAKU, became a Big HIT in the Singapore Local Malay Radio Station RIA 89.7FM.
Many Radio Interviews followed shortly after their Hit Song was very much appreciated by the masses. Interviews with Popular SIngapore DJ Hafeez Glamour, DJ RZ and AURA SHAI, DJ K.C and many more from RIA 89.7FM as well
as interviews from well known Local Reporter, Mr Jo Santai which soon followed by Merah's appearance in many Magazines and Malay Newspaper, "BERITA HARIAN" on different occassions.
Their first National television appearance was on a Malay Morning Show, "SURIA SEGAR", which they performed LIVE in an acoustic version of their Hit Song, CINTAKU.
Merah's Singles, "KAU" and "CINTAKU" were both nominated in the Prestigious Regional Music Awards , Anugerah Planet Muzik (APM) 2007 in two categories, "Best SOng in Singapore" and "Most Popular SOng in SIngapore".
The 2007 APM awards ceremony was Broadcasted LIVE in 3 Different COuntries, SIngapore, Malaysia and Indonesia which featured many other Local and Regional Artistes such as Taufiq Batisah, Jaclyn Victor, DEWA19, LETTO, Kris Dayanti, Siti Nurhaliza and many more.

In 2007, Merah has ended their contract with Production Edge Label and their PR Manager MOE and have also reshuffled their lineup due to unforeseen circumstances and ultimately, a new fresh lineup with their new drummer, Amer. Bassist Yazri, Guitarist Ewan and Vocalist Hafiz.
Merah is now an independant band (INDIE) and is working on their New Full Length Album Titled, "Emosiku Merah" which will feature a special guest Artist, Hirliana in one of the Duet Song in their new upcoming Album. 
The album's musical influence is mainly a fusion of INDIE ROCK/INDON ROCK/JROCK.
You can expect catchy tunes, Emo Rock and mainstream ballads in this new upcoming album as well as Merah's trademark catchy pop ROCK tunes.
Merah will be launching their New Album by End 2007. MERAH strives to establish a platform for potential new bands here in Singapore.
