About

"As DJs, producers, engineers and songwriters for the Warner Bros. act Mephisto Odyssey, Mikael and
Josh gained the reputation of being eclectics, pivotal in defining the nascent San Francisco house sound"

(SF Weekly Sept. 6, 2000). After signing to Warner Bros. Records (1998-2002), Mephisto Odyssey (which
included Orpheos and UK transplant Barrie Eves of Primal Records),
built on this reputation by working with a diverse cross section of bands also signed to the label.

Mephisto Odyssey's first single, the self-released "Dream of the Black Dahlia” (1993), earned kudos from
Bay Area promoters and the international underground scene including DJ Garth of Greyhound
Recordings. Mephisto Odyssey continued to release singles on their own label and in 1996 were signed
to the progressive West Coast label City of Angels. At COA, they shared the talent roster with
Uberzone, Simply Jeff, Christopher Lawrence, and future break beat kings, The Crystal Method, until eventually
signing to Warner Bros.

While at Warner, Mikael co-wrote, produced and engineered the single "Crash" with the platinum-selling
metal band Static-X.The track was featured in the full-length animated film Batman Beyond: Return of
the Joker. The music video, helmed by Underworld director Len Wiseman, aired on MTV2 and MTV-X.
The band also did extensive remixing for Los Amigos Invisibles, Static-X, and Soul Coughing and also
found considerable success as co-producers, engineers, and re-mixers of the Jane's Addiction maxi-single
"So What” from the album Kettle Whistle. The four Mephisto Odyssey remixes charted on the Billboard
maxi-singles chart for six weeks and remain the only remixes ever sanctioned and released by Jane's
Addiction.

Mephisto also continued to release their own successful singles such as "Sexy Dancer", selling over
10,000 copies on vinyl. At the end of 2001, Mephisto Odyssey left Warner Brothers, at which time Barrie
and Orpheos decided to leave Mephisto to pursue their own ventures.

Mikael and Josh continue to work on an eclectic and varied group of projects. Josh djs at the hottest clubs both in the Bay Area and around the world.Mikael's
recent engineering credits include work for The Matches, Smash Mouth, and I Am The World Trade
Center. He also did a live mix of Rose Hill Drive for San Francisco's 107.7 FM and co-engineered the latest
album from The Sounds, Dying To Say This To You.

Concurrently, Mephisto Odyssey's music continues to appear in various film and TV productions. In 2006,
the song "Some Kinda Freak" was featured in the Quentin Tarantino-produced "Hostel", while "Crash" was
licensed for the MTV show 'I Want A Famous Face.' In 2008 Mephisto continues to enjoy licensing deals for shows such as "Cane" on CBS, MTV Exposed and the upcoming Paris Hilton Show BFF.

After rapid fire releases in 2007-2008 of new singles on their label "Groove Quest" Mephisto odyssey have garnered huge reactions from their production contemporaries and massive club play from their fellow djs, including DJ Dan, Elite Force and The Crystal Method.  2008 and beyond looks bright for the duo as the odyssey continues...
