About
We are Mendala, from the green hills of the Northern Illawarra in NSW, and we draw on a variety of folk music elements to produce a sound that is loosely described as Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young being crashed tackled by Loudon Wainright. Featuring vocal harmonies and acoustic rhythms, our songs are inspired by nature and humorous observations drawn from everyday life.
Band member bio's:
Stephen Goldrick – An all round entertainer. Stephen plays guitar, banjo and is a key vocalist. Stephen's enormous enthusiasm for life and music occassionally gets him sent to the naughty corner.
John Nichols – Enjoys playing guitar, drums, percussion, bass, singing and writing songs though not all at once. The songs on this website have been recorded by John in his secret dungeon.
Phil Preston – Phil writes songs and plays blues harmonica, guitar and percussion. Phil adds a rich bottom end note to Mendalas vocal register which tends to make them sound more blokey.
