Melanie is something of a legend, opening tonight’s set with her song ‘Beautiful People’ which reportedly inspired the first ever waving of cigarette lighters and candles at a concert when she played it at Woodstock. That may have been over 40 years ago but the song is just as moving and poignant today. Melanie certainly drew a large crowd, so much so that many were watching from outside, unable even to get into the Peacock cafe. It was a sensational performance.
