Bio
Alternative rock band Mein 66 was founded in late 2008. The group incorporates psychedelic, progressive rock as well as experimental music into their sound.
About
MEIN 66 was founded by two visual artists/ musicians who mutually bonded over music of the band, Cocteau Twins. After realizing that their music tastes were very similar, they decided to start a band in the winter of 2008.
D. Lammie-Hanson (Lammie) is the vocalist and primary songwriter for MEIN 66. Her vocal style is an infusion of Bjork, PJ Harvey and the honey of Sade while Georgia native, AriMeier is an avant-garde keyboardist and composer. Lammie suggested the German word “MEIN” which is “my” in English. Then being influenced by the iconic Route 66, had the idea of morphing it into “MEIN 66” to celebrate that journey which can unite the worlds of the East and the West (hopefully the Right and the Left) just like the actual Route 66 does in the US.
The music is a hybrid of progressive rock, psychedelic, and experimental music. This amazing eclecticmix is dubbed “soulternative”, the “soul” part is in reference to the eternal part of the being…celebrating the spiritual existence of the soul and mind.
In the early summer of 2009,guitarist,Aaron Simpson joined and contributed his tasty chords, guitar voicings and great ear to the music. A little later,D. David Hensel(affectionately known as Derek), the adventurous eight string bassist and background vocalist came on board to add his brand tothe mix.
Derek then brought funky drummer, Daniel Decriscio, a fellow collaborator at City Church-Eastside in Atlanta. Daniel brought experimental and driving force drumming techniques to MEIN 66's sound.
Since the completion of the band, MEIN 66 has performed for private parties, art shows/galleries, bars/restaurants across metro Atlanta including the AliveAfter Five outdoor festival in Roswell. The band recently recorded its three song EP, entitled “Dirty Physics” and it's now available on CdBaby, and will soon be available on Itunes, Rhapsody, Pandora, La La, Napster and many other online music sites by December 2009.
