“The trilogy features a rapid-fire, energetic delivery that guarantees you’ll hit repeat. A lot.”

“This time around, she mixes and melds genres with her already diverse repertoire in the form of some industrial with deep melodies in a seamless blend of styles that literally make her hard to place in any music catalog yet still shows a strong place in any music library.”

“All too often in modern pop lyrics sound like they've been thrown together at the last minute but with No Politics in Pangea it sounds like every word, every phrase has been agonised over for weeks as the song was honed and sharpened until Megan was satisfied. It's like a piece of performance poetry where every word has to earn it's keep or it's fired. I've never heard the contribution of corporate capitalism to environmental blight summarised so poetically as "Cosy the coral in plastic and poisoning, corporate and capital cackle and coiling.”

“No Politics in Pangea is just another in a long list of examples from a performer with legitimate, quantifiable talent in both songwriting and performance.”

"No Politics In Pangea" laced with lyrical intricacies, obvious social commentary, complementary stacked harmonies and deliberate peaking production brings the message of this track to the forefront. A record of depth, controversial realizations, relapse and political injustices. Some modern artists douse their music in deadwood lyricism, auto-tune and overwhelming production to mask their talent deficit. Landry , however, presents lyricism, polished vocals, purpose and vision all into one crooning human; check out her latest melodic analysis below!

“Her tunes keep getting more eclectic, and that experimentation is totally paying off. Her voice absolutely carries this track — both melodically and rhythmically. There are some serious vocal gymnastics happening here.”

“Once again, she just fires away with her lyrics like an automatic machine gun, and if you actually listen to what she sings, some of her words almost hit you like bullets. She manages to paint pictures in your head, she compares, she is questioning and doubting what is given as facts, and she does all of this with a portion of sarcasm and humor behind it. There are so many facettes of what the track is about that it took me several plays on repeat to get a couple of the points she wants to make. These colorful, almost poetic lyrics alone (without having a closer look on the music) would be enough to keep the listener hanging on her lips.”

“On Megan Landry's Soundcloud profile, her bio line states "I am an artist", but after listening to her new single "Screaming Sun", it is clear that she is much more than just that.”

“There are obvious classic rock influences in Landry’s work. She has some unique qualities, like tracks that don’t quite follow traditional patterns and lyrics that cut deep on social injustice, global health and our unstable political climate.”

"I can say I stumbled upon a great human being today. Unfortunately it doesn’t happen too often that someone thinks out of the box in a way that it makes you really forget there even WAS a box to think in."

“If you haven't bought a Christmas present for your ears yet check out these little pillows of aural delight and make them happy little organs. [Screaming Sun • Megan Landry #4]”

“Lastly, the bridge is the literal breakdown of the song – lyrics and voice alterations included. Landry exclaims “the salary swinging is bringing men to their knees… and hord the boarders in order to take a buck from a foreigner” among many other clever wordings of controversial subjects. She is very inquisitive but critical of her surroundings and this type of commentary can seem like a rude awakening to a lot of people. However, I enjoy the honesty she exudes and the poignant way she expresses her message. Her unforgiving directness is the core of art pop that a lot of listeners miss out on in the mainstream scene. With this first impression from “Questions,” it will be interesting to see what her upcoming album has in store.”

“Music Showcase: Megan Landry”

“An eclectic artist, Megan Landry's work has been compared to others like Lana Del Ray and St. Vincent. A tapestry of rich lyrics woven with non-traditional chords gives her work a unique quality stamping out her space in the music world.”

“‘Questions’ features on Megan’s second album, her debut was called STILLS. With her second album, Megan hopes to shed light and raise awareness about the issues that effect us all globally. Landry makes refreshing, thoughtful quirk pop with a message – listen up and take heed!”

“A proudly independent Canadian artist, Megan Landry tackles a host of political and environmental issues in Questions (on the Cliff). Opening in a Regina Spektor style, the offbeat aesthetic is accompanied by lyrics covering everything from graves to ‘sleeping in the bed you made’. Falling somewhere between Fight Like Apes and MGMT, the song asks if we really should be staying silent while the world falls apart around us. Seems quite apt right now.”

“Megan Landry questions the healthiness of our planet and the people in it in a new upbeat song called “Questions”.”

“x0 See page 9 • .......The song Questions [on the Cliff] will be released on her second album. "... all the money in the world to glutton over won't stop the trajectory we're on”, says Landry. “Questions is my weariness about that fate ... a 'cliffhanger', and, I don't think we have answers."”

“This Weird Tuesday, I introduce to you Ottawa’s Megan Landry and her off-kilter rock track “Pieces” that bends melodies in unexpected directions.”

“Loads of new bands appear every year and sometimes it’s hard to find the enthusiasm to sift through them all – here’s four fresh artists that I’ve discovered over the last year or so that you need to be keeping a close eye on over the coming year… / ... Straight outta Canada, Megan Landry released her debut album ‘STILLS’ last year and she brings a fresh flair to the Art Pop world dominated by acts like St. Vincent and Regina Spektor”

“...there’s something hauntingly beautiful about “Human Leather.” Pulling influences from all over, with a pop innocence of Lana Del Ray, to an obvious classic rock influence, the track possesses tempo changes that are flawless in execution. Keys within the verses and on to the chorus lead the chills down your spine or the fight in your fist, clenching to a climatic overall tone. The track is beautifully written and centered around abuse, power, and control... (5th one)”

“As far as impressive resumes go, ten seconds on Megan Landry’s Reverb Nation page will have your ears ringing from your jaw hitting the floor. In an artist and album that specialize in shades of grey, it is best to let her summarize why you should pick up Stills for yourself.”

“25 Best Indie Albums of 2015: Megan Landry • STILLS -------- """I could listen to her for hours. If you don’t get a copy of her album “Stills” then you are really doing your music collection a serious injustice. She has all of the talent that made the likes of Elton John (back when he needed the money), Freddy Mercury, The Afghan Whigs, Alicia Keys, and countless others who they are today."”

"Rokky Awards—Favorite Canadian Indie Albums" Megan Landry STILLS -------- #10 """At just 19 Megan Landry is a vintage talent, brimming with an avant garde quality not to be confused with the tiger beat, pop-star phenomena of a Justin Bieber or Carly Rae Jepsen. Her creative outpouring is more fine wine than gimmicky cocktail, and the proof is in her recently released debut LP Stills."

“megan is not afraid to get strange with the lyrics and arrangements. the opening track 'cut to it', meant to be the single, is a stand out. but i also really enjoy the slow-burner 'reservations', with its strange harmonies and funhouse organ.”

“Rating: I feel like I'm very biased when I say this but she gets five out of five stars. Her music is so insanely true, I can't shake that fact. It's literally writing a book about the world's culture in the 21st century, except in song form. And to mention how amazing her lyrics are! Every time an image gets painted into my mind, I feel the lyrics. I understand everything that she is singing about. I can't explain to you how bedazzled I am by her music. Because just like her I'm watching all this crap going down and wondering if it will ever change.”

“Her voice is powerful, authentic in a current way, and her songs are clearly filled with passion. The way she is going, all she needs is more promotion, and she'll be topping charts around the world. Watch out for this girl, if she doesn't become something soon, the music industry will be missing someone amazing!”

“Megan Landry’s debut album ‘Stills’ reveals a young artist accomplished well beyond her years [Q&A Sesh]”

"...keep in mind that this woman is a student just starting off in adulthood yet these songs have the depth and feeling of a songwriter that has lived a full life. The songs also have a quirkiness and avant garde appeal to them that harks to the days when alternative was post modern and lyrics meant something to everyone..."

"Fraught vocals, an urgent delivery and punchy riffs underpinned by woozy melodies and Marnie Stern-style harmonies; 18-year-old Megan Landry knows how to create an impact within a single song."

"You’ve probably already heard of Ottawa’s Megan Landry. Definitely one to watch, this 19-year-old is prodigiously talented. Not only is she a multi-media design student at Algonquin college, she’s also a videographer, photographer, musician, writer, artist. And she recently released her first album, STILLS — a 12-track, two-year collection of indie pop. And it’s gorgeous. "

"She hauntingly describes love as something that is dead and gone...buried six feet deep." — about 'Six Feet'

"A two-year marathon of songs by a young Ottawa artist were released as a debut album titled Stills on August 2. The only thing you have to know about Megan Landry is that she’s a truly self-propelled artist with a incredible amount of talent." ... ... "We tend to pay attention to the big dates, the coming of age, the impatient rush to get to “adulthood.” Miss Landry has needed none of these landmarks to create her mature, weird, fun, and heartfelt music up until now. All she’s needed are her earnest voice, and her mature and poetic take on life in the 21st century." ... ... "I highly recommend Stills to anyone who likes indie pop, thought-provoking lyrics, and seeing an artist be as brazen as they should be."

"This rising star has a bright future ahead. Check out her single “Cut To It” below."

"...there’s a lot of people with a dream and no music yet, and it’s even better when you realise Megan has a knack for song writing..."

“Anyone who's familiar with Ottawa's Megan Landry knows she can pull off ethereal pop really well, but this tune also showcases an up tempo side outside of that niche. This song is from her upcoming album called Stills. Watch for it soon.”

“Thanks to those who continually support indie music ... kudos Don Campeau: "Recently, your music was heard on my radio show, “No Pigeonholes” aired by KKUP-FM to the San Francisco and Monterey Bay Areas."”

“Updated by KSVY 91.3 FM • March 2016 --- Cat discovered Megan Landry, a charming young singer/songwriter in Canada via Twitter postings from YouTube. When she heard her incredible voice, we had to get her on the show. Photo here is the cover of her newest album, STILLS and is her photography.”

““Wallpaper” by Megan Landry is a dark, moody and ambient music video filled with deep meanings and powerful imagery.”

“Musically, Ottawa's Megan Landry is playing at a level far beyond her years — but thematically, she's singing about an 18-year-old's firsthand experiences. This song is about her first year of college, and it's really rare to find someone who can so eloquently sum up those experiences while living them.”

“Those of you who read my reviews and follow my podcasts know that I am not a fan of genre. She spins herself as alternative. While that may be the best genre for her, I feel she does and excellent job of blending styles. I don’t consider all of her work “alternative”. She does some material I would call blues, pop, etc., The important point is that her work is varied in a great way. He songs do not all sound the same.”

"At only 18 some of these dreams are coming to fruition. Her songs have played on radio stations around the globe. She was hired to record a song for a movie score written by a Grammy award winning producer. And, just recently, she was cast in an upcoming movie singing one of her original songs."

"Videos for a Lazy Sunday: Megan Landry’s ‘Wallpaper’

“Meet Megan Landry. Some magazines already hail the 17 year old Canadian artist as the next Lorde, and there’s certainly an aura of upcoming success around her. ... / ... It seems like this teenage girl put all the puzzle pieces for a successful music career into place, so we wanted to know a bit more and started a brief email exchange with Megan…”

“'The Ghost', a beautiful and captivating song of broken love highlights Megan's effortless talent and soothing voice. Speaking of the song and it's storyline, Megan tells BEAT100 "my raw intentions were basically those of a vulnerable lover; somebody with pure faith and pure innocence who exhibits the kind of unconditional love that only somebody who has never been heartbroken has experienced." With a storyline of affectionate friendship that turns to love and loss, 'The Ghost' tells a tale that is relatable to many people and highlights Megan's maturity when it comes to songwriting.”

“Do you remember yourself at 17? Can you remember your talents, dreams, or even that teenage angst you felt? I certainly do, and if I was even a smidgen as talented as our next FeminINDIE artist currently is I would consider myself lucky. Megan Landry, Canadian artist and only 17 years old has been playing piano since the age of 4 and writing since the age of 11. She is currently in her last year of high school, and along with the usual array of homework Landry is creating music and working two part-time jobs.”

“Wallpaper, released with lots of buzz near the end of last year, is notable for its arresting lyrics, social commentary and provocative video. Megan describes that particular song as one she wrote while going through a rough patch in life. Naturally, she directed the edgy video, featuring child models styled to represent society’s broken people. One of them, bloodied, is pointing a gun; another is drinking from a beer bottle; yet another, a little girl, is holding a baby (doll) and smoking.”

“This is kind of cool … from a newspaper in India “FirstPost”, from a girl in the United States, using one of my older songs to make a video, got into their feed — Happy Thanksgiving. xo”

“Haunting vocals, combined with her thought provoking lyrics and some disturbing imagery, come together in a beautiful display of artistry. [about 'wallpaper']”

“Megan Landry has a huge career in front of her and I look forward to following it each step of the way. I was beyond impressed, I was inspired.”

“Her stories are inspired by her experiences as a young person, as well as by social concerns that resonate at any age.”

“You know when a song starts playing and you immediately have to stop whatever it is that you’re doing so that you can devote one hundred percent of your attention to the auditory masterpiece gracing your ears? That’s exactly what happened to me the first time I heard one of Megan Landry’s original songs (namely Pretty Faces, embedded below). Her voice sounds like it was taken right out of a gramophone from a classy 1920’s hotel. Let her lush voice gently caress your ears, while her luxurious melodies and imaginative lyrics sweep you into the depths of your imagination. She is a wonderful musical discovery and great addition to any library.”

“COW was very lucky to snag an interview with Megan Landry who took a moment to talk with us about being a YouTube artist, Frank Ocean, and making music videos. Scroll down to read the interview!”

“Megan Landry, 17 is a singer songwriter who met Autism campaigner and advocate Anna Kennedy of Anna Kennedy Online via social media. Megan had read about Anna’s various projects and about her two sons Angelo and Patrick who are both on the autistic spectrum. /.../ Megan therefore decided that she wanted to write a song for Anna. The song has now been recorded and is being used to announce that nominations are now open for Anna Kennedy Online’s second ‘Wear it for Autism’ fashion show supported by Models of Diversity that will be held on Monday 6th October.”

“Adults, Are You Listening? Megan Landry is a 17-year-old Ottawa artist. The young writer and poet makes her own videos and this one, her latest release, is pretty powerful. If you have three minutes—just three minutes—be sure to watch. It’s called Wallpaper and it will make you think.”

“...her songs are expressive and touching, while her stunning vocal drifts elegantly over the perfect harmonies. This week’s winning song, ‘Wallpaper’ explores the tragic incidents within our society that leave those suffering and those watching completely helpless. Megan’s lyrics express her inability to block out the tragic images from around the world, and yet she is unable to tackle the issues. Not only did Megan write the moving lyrics and music, she also created the striking video, which presents the ‘broken’ people of our society portrayed by children. The visual is shocking as the innocence of the young depicts adult issues, but it also confronts the image of these people that most would rather not consider by addressing their disturbing existence through the medium of children, forcing the audience to review their attitude towards other human beings ...”

“Sixteen-year-old, Megan Landry, found herself at the top of the BEAT100 Originals Music Video Chart with her well-written original track, “Dancing In The Dark”. The talented teen was rewarded with a BEAT100 Gold Song Award, Gold Favourite Award and Silver Video Award for her incredible skills and effort that went into making her BEAT100 entry.”

“The outstanding track, reminiscent of a traditional waltz, but also presenting aspects of a pop ballad, features Megan on vocals and piano accompanied by a full ensemble, including a string orchestra blended with Italian guitar licks, as well as her own powerful vocal harmonies. ‘Crooked Lullaby’ has received over 33,000 views since its upload as well as a BEAT100 Gold Song and Most Viewed Award.”

“Megan Landry is a 15-year-old student, (great) singer, (excellent) songwriter, and (damn good) video producer. This track, Dancing With The Dark, was posted on YouTube in early 2o12 and has over 27,000 views so far. What can I say? If I was this talented at 15, I probably would have had fewer desk jobs.”

“The video shows Megan playing keyboard on a cold winter night surrounded by candles and Christmas lights. A teen girl is seen being shoved against a school locker and is then seen walking away. The video ends with Landry holding up a sheet of paper with the word stronger. The song which speaks about being stronger, standing prouder, and yelling louder, explains how she was able to overcome bullying.”

“Check out this music video created by Megan Landry, a 15-year old student, singer, dancer, writer, and moviemaker. Obviously, the song itself is a beautiful theme song for the anti-bullying, teen self-empowerment movement. But let's take a step back and think not just about the song but about the whole story behind the creation of the song: the story of a really creative young woman and her friends getting together to work on a project that meant something to them, learning to fly the plane as they built it, and ending up with a meaningful product that they've now shared with over 50,000 youtube viewers. What if she had been studying for SATs instead? While I'm not trying to advocate that number-of-YouTube-views complement (or replace) standardized test scores, I can't help but wonder why the average school day doesn't (yet?) foster this kind of learning experience.”

“Archimedia Studios announces that 15 year old Canadian singer/songwriter Megan Landry has been selected as “Top Female Artist” in their recent Archimedia STAR contest. Megan’s self produced video to her original song “Stronger”, an anti bullying anthem, was selected from over 400 country, pop and rock entries.”
