The Matt Moran Band formed in early 2010, when Matt met drummer Tom Gallela over coffee to talk about a shared goal of playing acoustically-driven music that crossed genre.

Later that year they met up with bassist Leif Pedersen at a music store and the three began rehearsing immediately and eventually performing out as a trio while searching for a guitarist.
