As a solo artist, Sandy plays acoustic guitar and mountain dulcimer, but in collaboration doubles on bass guitar, harmonica and baritone ukelele. Her duo Andina & Rich have three albums out (the majority of which songs are her originals) and one on the way: 2006’s “Because We Can” on Travenia, the title track of which was a Dr. Demento favorite, 2010’s “Two Guitars, a Dulcimer and an Attitude” on DulciYodel — listed in 7 categories on the 2010 Grammy ballot and all 14 cuts of which have gotten airplay--and their just-released holiday EP "Merry Humbug" and about-to-be-released (Jan. 2015) album "Chasing Lightning." Sandy is currently working on her second solo disc “Candy Apple Red Herring,” the long-awaited followup to her debut "Ghosts & Angels." Her former duo SASS! also released "SASS! Album One." She plays clubs, concerts and festivals all over Chicagoland, the rest of the Midwest, and occasionally Mid-Atlantic, mid-South, West and far West—as well as the Chicago Bar Association’s annual “Christmas Spirits” satirical musical revue. You may have heard her on Dr. Demento, WFMT's "Midnight Special," WDCB's "Folk Festival," NPR's syndicated "River City Folk" and on broadcast, satellite and internet radio worldwide. Sandy's had two indie artists cover her songs on record, several in performance and several more preparing to record covers; and won Honorable Mention (top 5% of entrants) in the national Chick Singer Night songwriting contest. She's also a two-time JustPlainFolks Music Awards winner. She's Songsalive.com's current Songwriter of the Year, preparing to turn over her crown to the next winner in December. They have traveled thousands of miles to learn from masters, and spent countless hours honing and refining their sound, both at home and in the rough-and-tumble Chicago session scene. The sound is of reeds and strings, sounding together with clarity and sweetness over the trance-inducing hum and organ-like tones of the uilleann pipes. They play a diverse repertoire of dance tunes, marches, song airs, and baroque-era Irish harp compositions. They perform at Irish traditional music festivals (Milwaukee Irish Fest, the biggest in the country), regional and national traditional music events (Saint Louis, Saint Paul, Northeast, and Southern California Tionols), and St. Patrick’s Day celebrations (Irish American Heritage Center Patrick’s Day Celebration). They are at work recording a collection of tunes presently. The collection will include arrangements of traditional dance tunes obtained from older Irish-born musicians in Chicago and other material researched from 18th and 19th century collections. www.piobagusfidil.com SHANARA THE MOUTHPEACE Chicago born and raised, Shanara The MouthPeace is a product of hip-hop's “goldenera”, soul and gospel music. From her youth, she's been a lyricist and vocalist, singing from the playground to the choir in her hood, to the now over saturated spoken word scene in urban America. She finally found her own voice and style and crowned herself The MouthPeace. (A title well earned since you can add voiceovers, actress and radio personality to her bio). Sometimes compared to her artistic role model, Jill Scott, she is still set apart in her own right. She released her debut album, “The Discipline & The Diligence” (D&D), in 2012. D&D featured some of her most well known songs, “Jazz & Him” and “Reindeer Games”, which has been heralded by several critics and is in rotation on internet radio. D&D is a unique balance showcasing her singing, pure prose and spoken word with obvious hip hop and jazz undertones. These days, she is adamant about building her resume as a songwriter through her latest project #14in14 (writing for other artists and film), expanding her sound with her new band, Illa 100, while improving her chess game and becoming fluent in French. www.mouthpeacestar.com *************************************************************** APPLY TO PERFORM AT A FUTURE SHOWCASE SEEKING SINGER/SONGWRITERS TO PERFORM: * You must be able to guarantee a min. of 3-5 guests. * Minimum 3 song acoustic or electric set. * You must be a Songsalive!
