Band Biography
With the band’s influences including Alice in Chains, Tool, Nirvana, Godsmack, Helmet, Black Sabbath and Therapy? grunge/metal outfit Martyr de Mona have regularly been described on the gig circuit as innovative and cutting edge. Renowned for their dirty guitar riffs, intricate solos, lyrical song writing, snare splitting beats and complex drum patterns, Martyr de Mona have rapidly gained a widespread reputation for their high fuelled and energetic stage shows, receiving glowing reviews from critics for their phenomenal live performances.
Stourbridge based Martyr de Mona have been together since 2004. The band have come a long way since forming four years ago and have progressed and developed dramatically to become an accomplished and well established name in Birmingham and the West Midlands. Along with headlining numerous events, Martyr de Mona have also supported bands such as Download Festival newcomers Hostile, UK Guns and Roses and the UK’s number 1 Nirvana tribute act, Newvana. In 2007, the band worked hard to find their fan base and played venues such as the Barfly, The Shed and numerous bikers rallies. 2007 drew to a victorious close for the band when they won the 2007 Robin 2 Live Band of the Year competition, bagging themselves a recording and publishing deal.
2008 promises to be an even bigger and better year for the band. Martyr de Mona are entered in this year’s Surface Unsigned Festival after being selected from thousands of other local unsigned bands to compete in the regional heats in Birmingham. The band are still working hard and gigging regularly, with dates scheduled throughout the summer. Martyr de Mona are also currently working on material in readiness for the recording of their long awaited forthcoming album.
