“Marina Rocks of Galveston won Wednesday night’s Singer/Songwriter Showdown, hosted by 106.9 The Ranch, beating out eight men. Rocks won a guitar, a 10-song CD recording deal, and an opportunity to play next Friday at the Larry Joe Taylor Music Festival in Stephenville, The Ranch’s Carey Dean reported on his Facebook page. Among the nine finalists Rocks beat where three with Corsicana-area ties: Christian Frost, Richland’s Sean Teslar and San Marcos’ Tony Taylor, who grew up in Corsicana. Wednesday’s show was the culmination of 10 weeks of weekly competitions, in which the first nine produced a finalist each week. ”

“Marina Rocks, of Houston, traveled to The Remington on Wednesday night to compete in this year’s Singer/Songwriter Showdown hosted by 106.9 The Ranch radio station. “I am so excited. I never win anything.” Marina not only will play at the Larry Joe Taylor Festival, but will also record a ten song CD at Starlight Productions in Waxahachie, and received a new guitar from Dave’s Music at The Ark. The competition was judged by A-Listers in the Texas country music scene, Larry Joe Taylor, Dave Smith, and Dave Perez. Larry Joe Taylor is a Texas Musician and creator of the Larry Joe Taylor Festival, which entertained 46,000 fans at his three day festival. Dave Smith is the creator of Dave Smith Promotions and the Texas Regional Radio Music Chart which reports to Billboard Magazine for Texas. Dave Perez is a part of the Texas band, The Tejas Brothers.
