Bio

Majestik Originality is an emcee playing his part in this game. It's time for the world to know exactly what an emcee is,because there's plenty out there who have truths to speak, social opinions, a creative sense of direction for our youth and the ability to be ourselves and not a copy of what it is being sold to the world. It's time for a change, whether its from Majestik or another true emcee, a change will come. Music will be music once again.

About

Born and raised in New York City, Jason B. Hernandez, better known as Majestik Originality, is an emcee and poet. Growing up under tough conditions with emotionally and physically abusive parents, music provided his escape. His passion was sparked after listening to the likes of Run DMC, Rakim, the Beastie Boys, Kool Moe Dee, and Slick Rick.

Majestik began writing poetry at the age of twelve and lyrics at fifteen. He began performing in 2001 with his first stage appearance taking place at Blackbetty’s in Brooklyn. He oftentimes performed with Jendog and Baz-iLL of the 5 Foot Mafia, along with DJ Black Pearl. Majestik attributes the start of his performing career to them as well as his cousin AK.

In 2003, Majestik joined a group of emcees and poets known as 21 Poetz where he met Chilo and Advocate of Wordz, who were also members of the well-known poetry collective Grito de Poetas. Majestik went on to join Grito in 2005 and is currently still a member.

Compared musically to Big Pun, Majestik Originality definitely boasts a 90s hip-hop sound of which he is proud. Although his first recording was a mixtape in 2002, he produced, engineered and mastered his first album, entitled Timeline, in 2005. Since then he has released two more mixtapes. Majestik is currently at work on a new (as of yet untitled) album which is expected to be released late 2009.

Majestik Originality has performed at a variety of venues such as the renowned Nuyorican Poetry Club, the notable Bowery Poetry Club, Roseland, Webster Hall, Oxygen Lounge, 718 Lounge, Colgate University, and Eastern Correctional. Upcoming projects include joint efforts with emcees in Japan, a CD release as part of Grito de Poetas and working with Lynas of Wonderful Recordings on the forthcoming album.
