About

About The Band

Los Angeles indie pop quartet “Madras” has returned more than a year after their breakup in 2006. On the heels of two successful EP runs at college radio, while it’s music began being littered about the film and television landscape, leader/Singer/Songwriter Dan Luperini stopped the presses last year somewhat abruptly after the release of their “Great Wide Spinout” video - to get away from live performance and focus on writing and recording. Now, more than a year having passed, Dan has emerged again with a new set of songs - brandishing his signature lush melodies and rich but angular rhythm backdrops - and has decided to take to the stage once again. Dan was able to re-connect with guitarist Marc Thomas and drummer Ryan Brown, however the band suffers the loss of longtime member Mark Tuminello, who left L.A. for the east coast after the breakup. With Iowa native and tinseltown newcomer, Chinmoy Panigrahy taking over the bass duties from here, Dan Luperini and Madras release their new CD “Up From the Ground”, and plan to tour in late 2007, early 2008.
