A playlist can offer a soundtrack to seasonal changes or just a collection of tunes to get you through the cardio portion of your workout. And sometimes, they provide a broad sampling of a theme, like a collection of songs from acts that call a certain city “home.” With the Queen City Playlist series, this blog will compile songs on Spotify for varying themes. This first playlist poses a simple question: What does Charlotte sound like right now? That answer, of course, can be answered a number of ways. “ Write this down: Maddie Shuler.. Maddie is one of the most gifted singer songwriters I have had the pleasure of seeing perform. Maddie is an old soul living in the spirit of a young lady. Maddie’s songwriting, guitar playing, vocals, and stage presentation rival that of journeyman artists with years of experience. Her subtle confidence and polished communication skills can place any audience at ease and capture the hearts of the most discriminating listeners. Maddie was flanked on our stage by the extremely talented veteran female artist Jackie Moseley ( Songwriter of the Year 2012) and the incredible master craftsman Mike ALicke. In a whisper quiet listening room filled to capacity, Maddie more than held her own in this powerhouse Songwriter Showcase, held monthly at the long standi ng venue Summit Coffee in Davidson, NC. Maddie Shuler is an amazing young artist. Rob McHale Host Summit Coffee Songwriters Showcase”

“Maddie Shuler, 15, seems like the typical Providence High School student. School may be out for this rising sophomore, but summer means more time to pursue "what I'm meant to do." Shuler is a songwriter and musician. Her performances and the lyrics of her songs reveal a depth beyond her age. Since she was 12, Shuler has been playing her music around Charlotte at various venues including the Evening Muse, FemmeFest, Tosco Music Party, Central Piedmont Community College's Sensoria Saturday, Festival in the Park, and at various conferences. "I can't imagine doing anything else," said Shuler. Her most recent performance was at the reception for the Music and Friends event at Spirit Square on June 8, a private concert featuring Darryl Hall and John Oates. She played her guitar to several songs, including "Fully Alive," a song she wrote last year. "Fully Alive" is included on her self-published CD of the same name, released in March, along with 10 other tracks, all written by Shuler.”
