DIRTY REVOLUTION play a fierce brand of roots rock that goes beyond the standard “ska/punk” definitions. The Cardiff based 5 piece have been bringing their own unique sound-clash to UK venues tirelessly since 2007 and have a firm grip on the burgeoning underground punk/ska/reggae mash up scene. After releasing E.P "It's gonna get Dirty" on Do The Dog records they recorded their debut album "Before The Fire" with Peter Miles (King Blues, SB6, Random hand, The Skints) which was released as a limited edition by Rebel Alliance Recordings. The full edition is out now and available to buy on the bands own label,Dirty World Records.“ Dirty Revolution have produced an album which shines brightly amongst the current top quality uk ska/reggae/punk scene…Reb’s vocals are a force to be reckoned with, and when backed by a fierce rhythm section, skanking guitar waves and a crystal clear production, its a combination which is electrifying from the perfectly pitched anti-racist story of I Love Reggae through to the hilarious and astute comment on gangsta rappers 50p. Fuelled by a vivid, heartfelt passion, Before the Fire is an angry album somehow full of love ”Big Cheese Magazine", 5/5“Debut album ‘Before the Fire’ is a vibrant blend of reggae, ska and punk, all collected together with a quaint and relaxed charm… this is the sound of a young band with an impressive vision .Punktastic, 4/5“A diverse collection, instrumentally and sound wise, dipping their Welsh toes into dub, reggae, ska and punk rock…the UK has a small collection of bands leading its punk and ska scene in the right direction, Dirty Revolution is at the helm ”Distorted Magazine".
Supporting local brassy mega band Mad Apple Circus
Greetings Sexy Weirdo Army, and welcome to the facebook page of our summer supergig! After our dazzling success of our Christmas show at the O2 Academy and a fab start to 2012 with a great run of shows we decided it was time to once again put on a night of own. Once again we've put in the kind of attention to detail that means we can confidently say our nights are the best in town, at a venue you know you can trust. Main support for this show comes from the wonderful Frutaloka, another Birmingham based band with a tried and tested reputation for making audiences dance with their Latino funk rhythms and beautiful female vocals. Also playing are Mad Apple Circus, a clown crazed ska punk quintet with members strewn from here to Bristol. Opening the gig are Nighties Of The Round Table, an all female folk trio making their Ballroom debut after wowing audiences with their pretty-but-not-pretentious take on modern folk. As for our own set we can promise you all the usual Sexy Weirdos favourites that you've come to know and love plus a fistful of new material that will debuted on the night, as well as the full seven piece lineup of drums, guitar, vocals, percussion, tuba, trombone, cornet and violin. Are we excited about playing our own gig? You better believe it! After the bands sees the launch of Club Kowalski - a handpicked selection of djs playing an eclectic mix of tunes designed to keep you dancing until dawn. Will Itsasecret has been gradually gaining a reputation over the last six months by playing his Balkan and reggae influenced sets at squat parties and a fine selection of Birmingham's most notorious underground venues (PST, the Adam and Eve). Johnny Kowalski will be launching his DJ alias that night (DJFK - Deejay Johnny Fucking Kowalski) to play a lawless mix of mashups, gypsy music and stuff that sounds a bit like what they were playing at that really cool party you ended up at by accident a few months ago. Oh and tickets are five pound in advance, more on the door. You can buy them via the link below or directly from the bands to avoid booking fee. Book time off work, cancel your holiday plans, catch a long distance coach, do what ever you have to do to make sure you attend, or I can guarantee you will regret it. https://www.theticketsellers.co.uk/tickets/johnny-kowalski-and-the-sexy-weirdos-plus-guests/10020957 http://www.myspace.com/frutalokamusic http://www.facebook.com/pages/Mad-Apple-Circus
