“LUKE AUSTEN WINS TWO GOLDEN GUITARS
On Saturday night at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment Centre their belief in Luke was confirmed when he won two prestigious Golden Guitars Awards: Heritage Song Of The Year for “Sacred Bones” and Bush Ballad Of The Year for “Every Time He Travels Through Cloncurry”.
Luke Austen was the winner of last year’s Toyota Star Maker, the national talent search that launched the careers of Keith Urban, Lee Kernaghan, Samantha McClymont and many others.
But Luke is no blow in. He earned his stripes touring the outback with country music icon Brian Young for four years before becoming a mainstay of Troy Cassar Daley’s band from 2004 until now. He’s also had songs recorded by Troy and Adam Harvey.
Luke Austen has had a successful career as a sideman. He’ll have an even longer one as an artist in his own right.
Light Of Day, available now on Compass Bros Records.”

“A LIFELONG dream came true for Luke Austen when he won the talent quest that launched the careers of stars like Keith Urban, Lee Kernaghan, Beccy Cole and Gina Jeffreys.
Winning the 31st star maker quest at the Tamworth country music festival on Sunday night left Austen shaking and lost for words.
"I am shaking, this is great," he said.
"I'm on cloud nine."
The singer-songwriter and guitarist who first performed on stage with his dad's family band at age four has dreamed of this moment all his life.
"You need ups and downs to put in your songs to make it appealing to anyone," he said.
"You need dark moments, you need happy moments."
Austen describes himself as an urban country artist.
"Music has always been in the family, music has always been in my blood," he said.
The prize for winning the talent quest changes every year. Austen won a contract to record an album, a photographic portfolio and media promotion, among many other things.”
