Lloyd was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. His father died when he was 2 years of age, and Lloyd, his mother, and older sister Brandi moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where he attended Stephenson High School in Stone Mountain, Georgia. Lloyd was discovered by Joyce Irby and then made a member of the preteen group N-Toon.
