“MadeWright - MWR 67 In his liner notes, Little Freddie King thanks “all the women I have left behind who have made my life miserable, but did manage to contribute a lot to the lyrics in my songs.” That same spirit of wresting good music out of painful experiences permeates King’s music on this disc. Outings like Crackho Flo, Mixed Bucket of Blood, and Born Dead are no-holds-barred dispatches from both the mean streets and the unforgiving back roads, enhanced by King’s stripped-down but intense fretboard work and the relentless focus he applies to everything he does. Although most of what’s here sounds rooted more in King’s native Mississippi than his adopted Crescent City (the swampy Back in New Orleans being a rare exception), there’s a riveting sense of immediacy to his stories and his playing that transcends stylistic quibbles. ”

Q: Lil Freddie , Claude Hitt again Freddie King sign a record contract with Leon Russell ( Shelter Records ) Did you hear Freddie mention Leon Russell ? What instrument your dad played ?Thanks cwh
A: Claude, I do not know anything about the "Shelter Records". His half brother, Benny Turnner (bass player in his band) lives here in New Orleans. I met and played with Big Freddie when I was 23. My dad played guitar and blew harp, mostly on the weekends in Clarksdale and around. He was friends with J.P. Laour.
