Boulevard Del Amor

Debut Album by Lida

Hello Everyone!, I'm Lida. I was born in Coatzacoalcos Veracruz Mexico. I've been interested in music since i was very little. My dad  and my uncles are musicians and i grew up listening to their rehearsals while i played in the back yard, stuff like The Beattles, Carlos Santana, Eumir Deodato, Chicago, Blood Sweat & Tears, Earth Wind & Fire etc...

I'm very much influenced by the sound of the 70's among other types like latin jazz, brazilian music and rock and pop bands like Jamiroquai, Sade, Sting and Simply Red. There are just too many to mention but my whole life has been a musical journey.

At the age of 13 i moved to the state capital of Veracruz (Xalapa) so i could go to the Conservatory of Music.  I studied 9 semesters of Piano and during that time i had met some students that had similar interests and taste as me.  So,  it was then that i joined my first band.  A band called Parametros.  We  played all kinds of Rock covers like Queen, The Beattles, U2, Led Zepellin etc...

The Band became really succesfull and we were getting numerous contracts in the most popular clubs in town.  After only a couple of years  playing in Xalapa and around the state of Veracruz we auditioned for a gig as house band for the Hard Rock Cafe franchise.  We were successful in our audition and were the first ever Mexican Band hired by Hard Rock Cafe Mexico. After a year of touring the Hard Rocks around Mexico I left the band and moved to Canada with my boyfriend whom i had met in Puerto Vallarta on his Birthday.

After coming to live in Canada i was no longer playing with any bands so i decided to begin composing music. I wanted  to find that unique sound that you can only find after years of experimenting.  Eventually i got closer and closer to the sound i was looking for and decided, finally, after all this years i would record my first album "Boulevard Del Amor". I can only describe it as an eclectic fusion of latin grooves with funked out bass lines that are  combine with jazz, house and lounge. I love brass sections as it really brings music to life and vibrant. That awesome sound of the 70's is so amazing that i never get tired of listening to it . I feel so blessed that i grew up in a generation of musicians and was listening to these incredible bands that hold so much influence on my writing today.  I hope you enjoy my songs as much as I enjoyed the journey discovering them.
