"Once Upon a Musical Time" highlights the music that makes stories, myths, and legends come alive. Whether it’s recounting the tale of Sweeney Todd as the demon barber of Fleet Street or the quest of Frodo Baggins in Lord of the Rings, music has a powerful ability to convey key elements of a story. This concert will also feature the stories of Casey at the Bat and Tubby the Tuba, among others. During this performance, the band also plans to honor Steve Reineke, composer, arranger, and music director of The New York Pops, with the Lesbian & Gay Big Apple Corps Profile in Leadership Award. This award honors exemplary contributions to music and the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community. The concert is approximately two hours and there is one 15-minute intermission.
