Intro

  Born in 1976 and from Sunderland in the north east of England, Leon Thompson first got into music by joining a local choir at St Chads Church just before he became a teenager.  Leon then learned to play the keyboard at the age of 12 and learned to play tunes by ear.  As he was growing up through the 90's he realized that his passion in life was about music and got influenced by a lot of bands. This gave him the inspiration then and still to this day to write tracks of his own. 

Education/Qualifaction's

  After gaining a City & Guilds in programming in 'C' in 1993, he then completed a radio production course at the Wear FM radio station now called Sun FM where he also helped out with the Keith Laws dance shows on a night.  After gaining his certificate in Radio Production, he decided he wanted to test his own music in a local night club to see how the people would respond to it. The local DJ there played one of his track's to about a hundred people and Leon could only look in amazement as he was surprised and overwhelmed at how well people in the club responded to it. This gave him the driving inspiration to write more new material.  The next thing Leon wanted to do was to expand his knowledge in music so he studied at Newcastle College where he gained a HND in music production in 2005. 

Music Industry

  It wasn't until then when Leon first broke into the music industry when he was asked to put his keyboard wizardry skills onto a track for Demolition Records.   Seen by many as a pioneer of creating syncopated grooves, Leon joined up with Boom Music in 2008, which allows him to provide his high quality music for use in all media including advertising, broadcast, film and events.  Just recently, Leon established his own record label called "Still Standing Records" which is an independent digital label operated from his north east home studio/headquarters, and is purely used to release his own music to the public.  The name itself has a personal double meaning to it, one being that Leon had been trying for so long to get into the industry and was not going to give up, and the other being that the music isn't something you can sit down to, it simply gives you the energy to get up and dance and keep you there.
