After many years of having the desire to leave NY, I've finally been called by another city. I'm going to CHICAGO! I felt a true connection to the city the last time I visited. There's this strong pull telling me that I need to be there. To start over. To pursue painting in a new environment. To be part of another edgy city without the cut-throat, cliquey, dog-eat-dog world of NY. I didn't even care if it's freezing and the fact that I hate cold weather. The pull is stronger than any of that. I haven't felt this right about something in a long time, and we all know that these moments don't come often, so we must seize them when they do come. So, that being said, it seems fitting that I play my last NYC show (for a while anyway!) at the same place that I played my first NYC show. And it's even more fitting that it's for one of SIDEWALK CAFE'S Blackout Nights. That's right -- no microphone (you guys better be quiet; I'm not much of a belter!), no amplification, no lights... only candles, you, me and the music. Unplugged in the truest form! Joining me will be some friends doing their own sets: LENNY MOLOTOV, LINDA DRAPER, ERIN REGAN, THOMAS PATRICK MAGUIRE (more details with times to come!) It's free. I am so excited! Hope to see MANY of you there! Not sure when I'll be back, so it'd be great to see some faces before I head out to the midwest. xoxox www.randirusso.com
