This Jazz Crooner and Latin-Romantic balladeer got his start performing at a young age, touring through houses of worship in the tropics. The first thing you see when you jump into the web presence of local Latin crooner Lee Shanel is that his promo photos were definitely not taken at his home in Brentwood — unless of course there's a stretch of sandy, tropical seashore that Williamson County has been holding out on us. And while we wouldn't be surprised if our neighbors to the south had dropped the dime to import an entire beach and then not invited us to hang out, it's pretty easy to figure out that the dapper gentleman with the guitar is not your run-of-the-mill Tennessee singer. Trading in traditional Latin ballads tinged with the sort of smooth pop that you do tend to expect out of this town — think Michael McDonald en Español — Shanel hews closer to the legendary Latin romanticism of yore than you'll likely hear north of San Juan.
