No one knows their heart's desire,
'till it's gone, a passing fire.
Now you say you still want me,
time has told you what you see.

How we wish for love untame,
a burning desire one cannot name.
But, it seems to soon turn sane,
once undying, now mundane.

Now just leave me to sit here dying
inside, it lingers there's no denying.
But, it soon, I hope will pass,
for, I know time won't heal my past.

Now I know my heart was free
and false love it did not need.
So very fragile it certainly seems,
now so small, can't be redeemed.
