The self-released album, False Starts & Broken Promises, was received enthusiastically by press, including four stars in Mojo Magazine and Uncut. Wildflower Records, the New York City-based label owned by folk-legend Judy Collins seized the opportunity licensing the debut album.
The band soon built a strong reputation on their electrifying live show. Last Man Standing have supported Sparks, The Polyphonic Spree, the Violent Femmes, George Clinton, and the White Stripes.
