Bio

Landis Dell is a composer and multi-instrumentalist who currently lives in Calgary, Alberta. His main instrument is guitar, though he's proficient on electric bass, clarinet, tenor saxophone, and piano as well. Landis has been performing at a professional level for 10 years, and performing for the public for over 14 years. He graduated from the Bachelor of Music program at St. Francis Xavier University with distinction in 2004, and holds a diploma in Composition from Red Deer College. He’s played under his own name and with numerous groups and performers including: the Prime Time Big Band, Eric Friedenberg, Andrea Curry (East Coast Music Awards, 2005), Tim Tamashiro (at Red Deer College, 2000), the Red Deer College Big Band, Sage, and Ego Trip.

Landis has a history of performance as a composer as well. The Red Deer Symphony Orchestra played his short piece, Homecoming, in April 2001. His graduation recital, Fragments and Potentialities, at St. Francis Xavier University in 2004, was composed of entirely his own material. A piece of his music, entitled "A Flower for Alice," was recently featured in the short film, Quiet, Please. Any performances he does under his own name include at least an hour’s worth of original compositions.

Landis can now be seen playing under his own name, with Andrea Curry, and with a new group, lights.out.tokyo, at various venues in Red Deer and Calgary.
