La Coka Nostra is a breath of fresh air in these days of contrived airbrushed rap music. LCN isn’t trying to gloss shit up in the least. They like it crusty and gritty the way rap music should be. The collective’s debut record “A Brand You Can Trust” dropping July 14th proves just that. Somewhere along the lines, people forgot about groups like the mighty Wu-Tang Clan, Ultra Magnetics and Cypress Hill and the dirty raw esthetic these groups had but LA Coka sure didn’t. They embrace the darkness stench and all and aren’t afraid to be celebrate it.
About
La Coka Nostra is a breath of fresh air in these days of contrived airbrushed rap music.
LCN’s music is a much needed return to the days of sex, drugs & rap ‘n’ roll, a sentiment that hasn’t gone unnoticed by the groups growing legion of fans. La Coka rocks for the kids that dig hardcore punk rock and rap and don’t give a fuck who knows about it. With their debut record “A Brand You Can Trust” The most official Peckerwoods of Rap set the record straight.
Composed of members Ill Bill, Slaine, Everlast, Danny Boy and DJ Lethal La Coka ain't rapping for the Hollywood set even if you see them on the mean streets in the city of angels. “This cliques individual accomplishments are enough to write a book on but that’s not important right now,” says La Coka Capo Danny Boy O’Connor adding, “The past is the past and LCN is all about the future”. The crew’s debuts record “A Brand You Can Trust” proves this point. With guest appearances from people as diverse as Snoop Dogg, Bun B, Immortal Technique, B Real and Psycho Realm and largely produced by resident genius DJ Lethal the boys toxic dose of ass whipping is set to be unleashed on the unsuspecting public this July 14th. Band member Ill Bill aka The Cult Leader says “This record is a no holds barred burst of hardcore hip-hop to the fullest, representing everything we love about this art form but feel is missing from the game right now.” He adds, “We know a lot of you feel the same way we do, so we're using our voice to speak for those that may not have this opportunity. We are thier voice”.
With their debut release “A Brand You Can Trust” the coast-to-coast collective is bringing that punch you in the jaw kind of rap music the world has been missing for too damn long. La Coka Nostra reps for the unrepresented legions of kids that are understandably bored by the state of rap music these days. In this day and age of songs about 24’s,candy coated paint jobs, dance routines and faux gangsterisms La Coka Nostra is that stench of mosh pit rap that hiphop needs so badly right now in order to preserve its vitality.
“Rap music was stale just like the Bush regime. I was inspired by my younger brothers in arms Ill Bill and Slaine to stomp some ass and have some fun,” says rap veteran Eric ‘Everlast’ Schrody. “After hanging with the crew I knew it was time to put the rap game in a chokehold real fast again. I was inspired to put down my 6-string for a hot second and school these cornballs out here on how to get ugly with it one more time. I’m as proud of this record as any record I ever worked on. I can’t wait to see our fans’ reactions.”
In speaking about “A Brand You Can Trust”, the rap Boston strangler Slaine had this to say, “When we first started recording tracks for La Coka, we knocked a lot of joints out at once, and there was a lot of hype and buzz around the project and the group. We started leaking those tracks to feed the hunger that was out there, but in the meantime I think we raised the bar and created an expectation level within the group to really make a dope record. While we were on the Bring Tha Noize tour, I had the headphones on and listened to the final version of the album sequenced, mixed and mastered, and bugged out at how good it is. This shit bangs. We set out to make a boom bap hip-hop record and we did that, but to stop there would be selling it short, because lyrically, musically, and sonically this album doesn't fit in a box. This summer the world will finally hear what the fuck is really going on with La Coka Nostra."
A BRAND YOU CAN TRUST DROPPING JULY 14TH BE AFRAID VERY AFRAID!
