2008 saw a long overdue meeting of minds between British producers Gary J Robinson, Ben Fawce, Jonny Vaughan and Ohio based musician Aaron Kay.
With many years of musical output and releases behind them, the four founding members of Urban Sickness Audio had reached a point where they were ready to move onto something new, fresh and exciting.
Gary had been running the Drum & Bass label New Vision Recordings since 1999 which was slowing down in terms of releases and had began to concentrate on musical output for television in Europe and the Americas. As NVR moved out of the public eye, Gary began to make plans for a new label and was on the lookout for some new and interesting collaborators.
Ben had been involved with several independent labels and club nights while developing his production, DJ and Drumming skills over the years and was looking to build something new from the ground up.
Jonny had been collaborating with Gary on a number of projects including the Rock / Dance crossover band PoisonFlow as well as the Drum & Bass anthem Fear Grips. Now working on his own material as Dark Disco icon Vahn, Jonny was also sketching down ideas for a label that could be home to all of their productions, regardless of style and genre.
Across the Atlantic in Ohio USA, producer Aaron Kay had been steadily working his way through various genres of dance music before settling on his uplifting and musical style of Drum & Bass. After several months of discussions and swapping of demos Aaron joined the Urban Sickness Audio team to complete the line up.
The concept behind USA is a cross genre, independent record label operating with a good solid distribution arm supporting both vinyl and digital downloads along with a crack system of promotion ensuring heavy weight DJ support, magazine and on-line coverage with the aim of building the profile of both the label and the artists.
Collaborations with other established producers are another focus for the label with remixes to date from Contour, Crystal Clear, Q-Project and Soul Intent.
