About

About NorthStar Entertainment
Founded in 2005 by music industry PR veteran Sheryl Northrop, NorthStar Entertainment is a multi-faceted company encompassing PR, artist management and consulting. Northrop, a respected, longtime music publicist, started the company to better accommodate the needs of artists, both established and independent, who require a level of dedication commitment and expertise that goes above and beyond the typical press campaign.
In today's rapidly changing music business, artists have more opportunities than ever before to create, market and distribute their art whether through an established major or indie record company or through independent channels. In addition to creating traditional PR campaigns, there are many ways in which artists can gain awareness and visibility, develop their careers and grow their fan bases and learn to market and brand themselves effectively. NorthStar Entertainment's artist management and consulting divisions focus on these avenues while its PR division continues to create thorough and innovative media strategies.
About Sheryl Northrop
NorthStar Entertainment's Sheryl Northrop has worked in the music and media industries for more than two decades, spending time at both major and independent record labels and, for the last 12 years, as head of her own entertainment PR firm.
During her career, Northrop has worked in both print publishing and PR. She has represented entertainers, music artists in many genres including rock, pop, blues, country, Americana, jazz, children's recordings and other entertainment entities including books, theatricals, events and corporate clients. She worked in the media departments at I.R.S. Records, RCA Records and All American Music Group prior to starting her first PR company in 1997. Northrop launched NorthStar Entertainment in 2005.
Northrop holds a degree in journalism from California State University, Northridge and is a member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS). She serves on the Boards of Directors for the Association of Independent Music Publishers (AIMP), and the T.J. Martell Foundation for cancer, AIDS and leukemia research. She co-taught the UCLA Extension course "Publicity for the Music Industry" for several years and is a featured interview in the book "Getting Signed: An Insider's Guide to the Record Industry," by George Howard. She is regularly called upon to lecture or participate in panel discussions about entertainment PR in both industry and academic forums.
