About
The story of Dippy Records began at the end of 1999. These were the days of boy bands and partying like it was actually the year it was.
Dippy emerged as the Miami Beach underground scene was kicking with bands like Enemy Against Enemy (Dippy's first release), Dip, Caution Automatic and of course, the legendary Topless Mercuri...all on Dippy.
Dippy Records also put together artists (a common trend at the time). The most successful of these 'creations' being The BJ Experience who are still in fact around today and have sold and released the most records for the label. Dippy keep their bar high with the legendary, even more legendary than Topless Mercuri: Monkeypox.
After some time of relatively little to no activity, Dippy Records is back stronger than ever. Promoting hardcore screamo act Capsule to the Robotic Empire label and starting a buzz with Sebastian Manuel's I Love You (now the Monarcs). The Monkeypox first and subsequently last feature film In Limbo was released on Dippy Films in 2005 along with its soundtrack album featuring Transcendence, Pipi Caca, Rodolfo & Johan and Fernando Perdomo as well as more traditional Dippy Artists.
Over the years, Dippy has become a great starting ground for groups like Jacobs Ladder, Capsule and Price who are now on Geffen.
2007 has seen a larger distribution with an exclusive partnership with Amazon.com. Digital distribution is also now available thru iTunes, Napster and others. The DIY world has become larger and larger from the days the label started its weirdness.
The new Father Bloopy record "Ginger, Baby" is quickly becoming the fastest selling CD and the most promoted CD in Dippy history! Let's see what happens with this ginger, Baby.
2008 is here and an exciting year awaits for Dippy. We've just launched dippyshop.com which will be the easiest place to get copies of selected Dippy material as well as the new stuff in the works as we type! So be sure to sign up to our mailing list to get the latest haps when things start moving...
