ACTION INCREASES ALONG WITH THE TEMPERATURE THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER AS ARTISTS HIT THE TRAIL HARD AND POUND OUT NEW ALBUMS.
Lead by Los Lonely Boys July 1st Release of Forgiven and their Subsequent Tour, Art Attack Prepares for an Explosive Summer.
June 18, 2008 (Austin, TX) – As the summer months begin to challenge even the most robust, Central-Texas thermometer, Art Attack Promotions is heating up just as quickly. The July 1st release of Los Lonely Boys’ Forgiven kicks off a series of new albums that includes the August 19th debut of John Lee Hooker Jr’s All Odds Against Me and culminates with the latest from Allison Thrash in September. In addition to the blistering heat, the bands are braving high gas prices and hitting the road nationwide. From Monacy’s Northeastern meandering to Chris Duarte’s trans-hemispheric travel, each artist is taking full advantage of the summer demand for outdoor entertainment. The following highlights the latest news from each artist in the Art Attack family including
Daurte, Thrash, Hooker Jr, Monacy, and Los Lonely Boys.
Los Lonely Boys- Henry, Jojo, and Ringo, The Texican Trio, are back with their third studio release, Forgiven, hitting stores July 1st. “Staying With Me,” the album’s first single hit the airwaves May 6th and has hovered near the top of the AAA charts every week since. With all the buzz surrounding the release date and the following tour, The Boys hope to equal the success of Sacred, their triple-platinum debut that launched them into the hearts of fans everywhere. Los Lonely Boys will be touring nationwide throughout the remainder of the year, and more information on the tour, release, and everything else can be found on the band’s new interactive website.

Chris Duarte Group- Chris Duarte has long since proven his mettle as one of the best blues guitar players in the world, and 2008 proves he is also one of the most determined road warriors as well. Following the release of Blue Velocity in September of 2007, Chris has been on a non-stop crusade, bouncing to and from Europe on several occasions as he continues to draw believers to the gospel of his guitar. While touring in of itself is a full time job, Chris recently began work on a new album in California in between stops on the East Coast. Also in the works is a new website that promises to bring the excitement of Chris’ live act to the convenience of the net.

Monacy- Hailing from West Chester, PA, Monacy is a little, funk-rock band with a big stage presence and a jam-band mentality. Known for creative and energetic live performances, Monacy has played alongside members of The Bloodhound Gang and Phish, and graced the stages of numerous historic venues throughout the Northeast. After kicking off 2008 with a bang, playing at Penn State University’s famous THON Benefit, the band hit the studio and is nearing completion on their second album, Intensely Casual Volume 2. As recording wraps up, Monacy prepares for their upcoming performance at the Endless Summer Jam Festival in Hammonton, NJ (www.endlesssummerjam.com). Running from July 25-27, the festival will feature a line-up of over twenty bands assembled from across the country and is located at the Paradise Lake Campground. Tickets range from $70 to $75 and include overnight camping for Friday and Saturday.

John Lee Hooker Jr- As the son of the great John Lee Hooker, John Jr. has been living the blues from day one, eventually falling victim to the life for a period of time. Since his “celebratory redemption” from the streets in 2004, when he released the award-winning Blues With A Vengeance, John Jr. began to distinguish himself as a true innovator. Blending “down home blues” with “2 parts R&B, 1 part jazz,” John Jr. has become the contemporary Bluesman and continues to usher the genre into the 21st century.
John Jr will unveil his third solo release, All Odds Against Me, August 19th. The 12-song album, to be released domestically on Jr. Hooker’s own Steppin’ Stone Records and in Europe on Jazzhaus Records, is his first effort to include only new and original tracks, a contrast to either of his previous solo projects. Additionally, Jr. continues to stretch the envelope, becoming blues’ first animated superhero in a cartoon included on the enhanced disc. The first episode of “Bluesman” introduces Jr. Hooker as a crime-fighting musician, singing in clubs by night and cleaning up the streets by day. Conceived by Frenchman Laurent Mercier at the Callicore Animation Studios in Paris, the video series has also inspired work to begin on a comic book. Mercier, son of a French jazzman contemporary of Hooker Sr., dreamt up the idea as a way for the two sons to pay tribute to their fathers’ legacies and Jr. immediately embraced the vision. Set to “Blues Ain’t Nothing but a Pimp” from Blues with a Vengeance, the video is the first of three to be released in 2008.
