Bio
What’s up y’all!? My name is Kurt Hunter, and I’m a singer/songwriter from way down south in Louisiana. I lived and grew up there till I was 18. Three days after my 18th birthday I moved all the way across the U.S.A. to southern California. I had passed the audition to become a part of an organization called The Young Americans. I toured with the group teaching, singing, acting, and even dancing for more than 4 years. I made it to 34 states, England, Germany, Ukraine, and France. I gained a lot of world experience which taught me a lot about other styles of music, living, and interacting with other people. After 11 tours, I settled in Fullerton California to pursue a certificate program in recording arts and production. I also began writing and performing my songs at venues from Hollywood to the beaches. I’m currently finishing up my first big studio album entitled Up Too Late which will be out very soon!
About
My influences are a great number of things beginning with my love of great guitar riffs from bands like Creedance Clearwater Revival, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, and Black Sabbath. After traveling with the Young Americans I began to be influenced by many different people and their musical tastes. I still love my old stand by rock n’ rollers but I also love Jason Mraz, John Mayer, the Killers, Peeping Tom, G Love and the Special Sauce, Erykah Badu, and the list could go on forever. I pull a lot of my songs from real life experience, and some from thin air! Sometimes I spend weeks on lyrics to a song, and at other times, 20 minutes will do. I love to play and write with other musicians and would ultimately love to be a songwriter and producer for great singers and songwriters to come.
My life revolves around music and I love activities that involve it. I enjoy all forms of art and enjoy going to performances and showings of all kinds. I’m always down for a good game of cards with friends, and I really love playing pool, even if I’m not really good at it. ☺ I love trying foods from other countries and cultures, but I’ll always have a place in my belly for good ol Cajun cooking. I’m a big science nerd so I love museums. I’m a big advocate of reading, especially fantasy and fiction. Harry Potter rules, though I’m currently reading the Twilight series.
