About

In a time of change, it is important that each of us do our part to help bring it about. However, for the change to be truly effective, we must bring with us the values and importance of our individual families and cultures to share with others.

In Kenneth Makuakäne’s new CD, The White Bathtub, he gives us the help we need to find our own history and family values, so we can help others to do the same. For example in the title song, The White Bathtub, Kenneth reminds us that there are antiques passed down through our families that symbolize the very struggles and accomplishments of those that came before us. In this song, he shares with us the childhood memories he has of his grandmother and the fun times swimming in that old bathtub she had in her backyard.

This theme is carried forth in The Saga of Pedro Kumukahi, a tribute to the life of his late father. Too often, when someone in our family passes, they are forgotten over time. We need to document their life and their journey, so that our children and their children will know about the people who instilled their values into us. These are the values we instill in our children.

As we mature, our convictions become more solidified. We have to sometimes be assertive in using it to speak out against what we feel is wrong or will adversely affect others. Shame On You People is a rally for all of us to speak out against the environmental and political injustice we see, but often leave for others to stand up against.

Kenneth Makuakäne is not just an internationally known music artist, he is a gift of insights that reminds and brings us back to what is truly important to us; our families and friends and the passions in our lives.
