About

Hello Friends and Fans!

This is Cross Promotional Multi-Genre Music Widget of music we are promoting!  Check out these artists and become fans and street team members to keep the music flowing.  We change the music on a regular basis and promote many other artists on all of our sites.  In time we will get to all of the great artists!  HELP US OUT!

PLAYLIST WIDGET LESSON  #1:

I made the list at the top of my Songlist/Playlists Box by BOOKMARKING all of the songs as I listened to them and/or by going to the artists' pages to BOOKMARK them by hitting the PLUS (+) sign on their songlists. Sometimes it took quite a few HITS!  Then drag and drop to order them in your lists.  Then you make a NEW LIST for music you want to promote and NAME the list.  Then you UNCLICK the Check at the top of the BOOKMARKED LIST and then CHECK the songs you want to COPY and MOVE to your NEW LIST. To add to pages or comments or emails of any list you make or choose, just click on EMBED button at the top and the page of songlist widgets will come up. You can then choose the type of widget and make it AUTOPLAY and RANDOM or SHUFFLE songs and change the color and all. Then left-click on COPY button without hitting any of the various types and then RIGHT CLICK it... then move to the other page or your NOTEPAD to PASTE the copied widget. The jibber jabber will be in your NOTEPAD where you can then place it to other places in MySpace, Reverb emails, comments and FaceBook more easily. IF YOU HAVE TROUBLE, LET ME KNOW! Just practice, and it took me a whole week to get it to work. It is a slow process.  Send it to yourself to make sure it takes.   Sometimes these lists change by themselves!  I still for the life of me cannot get these things to work here on my ReverbNation page.

Booger And The Gumdrops just told me to go to each page and SHARE whatever you wish to place of other artists onto your ReverbNation page, as he does with the FaceBook Banners!  Check it out!  Now we are cookin' with GAS!

Hugs and blessings,

Kim Kehala and Kim Kehala Music

PS. If you just want to copy the one I made, hit the SHARE button at the bottom of my BLOG widget. You can also make your own by clicking on GET YOUR OWN WIDGETS at the bottom of the larger widget.  Good Luck!

Kim Kehala is releasing the song "LET'S PULL OURSELVES TOGETHER" off her first Nashville album, entitled "PIECES" for the first time!  SONG INFO:

Thanks for the listen!  I am the first artist to release this song.  This song was pitched to me in Nashville by Melba Montgomery and her husband, Jack Solomon, who was Alabama's rhythm/acoustic guitar player.  Melba wrote it.  Jack produced me and his daughter and son-in-law played on it.  Rob was Clint Black's fiddle player.  Many other famous musicians, as listed in the bio.  I think I am sounding a little brassy on this one.  I redid it after vocal coaching and will have the updated version on the next album.  It is a crowd pleaser at shows and should be a great jukebox Pick-Me-Up-At-A-Bar drinking song!  Have a great day.  Have you joined me at Kim Kehala Music?  I am up to my limit on favorites here and still have a blown widget.  Only clicks on Facebook and MySpace are counting, I guess.  I appreciate all your help and input.  ANY REVIEWS WOULD BE HIGHLY APPRECIATED AND I MAY QUOTE YOU!

Hugs,

Kim Kehala

THE LONG VERSION:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

RULE NUMBER ONE in writing an artist's biography -- "At all cost, avoid overblown adjectives and adverbs -- they immediately destroy credibility."  Singer/Entertainer/Writer Kim Kehala is making a comeback of sorts.  Her country debut was as Kim Frazee a few years back.  Her biographer was G. Michael Allen of Nashville, at that time.  And she quotes him here: "The following description spiked with a few adjectives and adverbs challenges this rule." (RULE 1).  "Her beauty is elegant.  Her confidence is obvious.  Her excitement is contagious.  These three traits you notice immediately when you meet singer/entertainer Kim Frazee.  And when you witness her live performance, you'll see a classy energetic performer with a natural witty charm who has a vocal blend of 'bluesy with country style.'"

Kim grew up on a farm in wild and wonderful West Virginia, the daughter of a hardworking timber grader/boss/farmer, listening to the hillbilly bluegrass pickers on her mother's side of the family, and the jazz/big band/Broadway music on her father's side.  Her mother played all genres of music on the family stereo while her father played a different variety in his 8 track player in his 4 wheel drive Jeep Wagoneer.

Kim's great grandfather was the leader of a hillbilly bluegrass band that was comprised of his five sons (the three daughters just listened).  They also had a logging business.  Kim says, "He was such a perfectionist.  If his band made a musical mistake, he would stop them in the middle of a tune and start over."  Kim doesn't restart her band, but by the age of five she had already learned musical perfection from her great grandfather.  Influenced by all her musical relatives, Kim sang in school vocal groups and played trumpet and French horn in the school band.  Upon high school graduation as valedictorian, she joined her first professional band as lead singer and trumpeter.  Her maternal female cousin, Janet, was the head of the rock/pop band and made Kim audition, just like everyone else.  Kim was adamant about pursuing her education while performing with this and other bands.

Her vocal music career really began when she sang as a contestant in the Miss West Virginia pageant.  Even though she didn't win, (her high heel got stuck in her white satin evening gown and she tripped clear across the stage!) the urge to sing was strong, and the pageant officials suggested that she pursue her music more seriously (and learn how to walk better than a cow).  With money earned from weekend appearances with the bands, as well as college work-study and working at Snowshoe Ski Resort, Kim helped pay her way through college.  With a grueling schedule of a biology and chemistry double major, she was left with no time for singing and was forced to quit performing in order to concentrate on her studies.  Her determination and dedication paid off when she graduated with honors with a bachelor of science degree.  Also upon graduation Kim was awarded a Rotary International Graduate Fellowship to study one year in Auckland, New Zealand.  When her Fellowship was over, she returned to the United States (via Australia, Hawaii and California) to work as a special chemist in clinical labs throughout the East and completed one year of medical school.

During all this time, Kim always missed the excitement of singing and performing.  Therefore, she began singing locally again and progressed to being a "perennial favorite" at regional fairs, festivals and nightclubs.  In her choreographed stage show, Kim performs a complete genre of music.  She has made the rounds in Nashville performing as a guest at various clubs, and doing her shows during the week of Fan Fair.

Kim's first serious music project was her album, "Pieces," recorded at Merit Studios on Music Row in Nashville.  It was produced by Gold Record holding Jack Solomon (Alabama's acoustic/rhythm guitar player) and engineered by Grammy winning Tom Pick.  Jack's wife, lovely Melba Montgomery, and her family helped Kim with the whole project.  The first released single from the album, "Trail of Tears," written by Juice Newton, was well received by country radio and added to several national charts, including "Cash Box" magazine and the Independent Country Charts.

Kim is currently working on her next single releases and her forthcoming album.  She also dabbles in songwriting and is writing a non-fiction book about her experiences in life and "the genuine country music era".  She is putting a band together and hitting the road again.  You may also follow her pursuit of her neverending dreams at her other comedy/music pages at http://www.myspace.com/kimkehala and http://www.myspace.com/kimkehalamusic and the other sites listed above.

And Mr. G. Michael Allen finished her first music biography with these words: "When you view Kim's determination, dedication and these traits: beauty, confidence and excitement combined with tremendous vocal talent, you'll soon realize rule number one does not meet the challenge--credibility restored."

THE COMICAL VERSION:

... is at http://www.myspace.com/kimkehala with Kim's features slideshow, musical influences, art, various things of interest for one and all, and lots of photographs of all of her friends from all over the world.  Don't forget to sign the guestbook!  Thank YOU all for all the love and support.  And thank YOU for helping Kim promote world peace through music of all types!  May God bless us all!  AMEN.

PS.  "KEHALA" is Kim's Native American name from her great great grandmother who used to work the farms with the old white work horse while the men sat on the porch, drinking moonshine, and pretending they were gentlemen farmers of The South!  "Kehala" is Lakota/Dakota for "Little Shell".  People who know Kim think she should have been named "PETALA" instead, which means "Little Fire"!

Plan to keep late artist’s work alive
By Matthew Hill
Register-Herald reporter

September 03, 2006 09:12 pm

— OAK HILL — Although its creator passed from this life last year, a Robson man hopes to keep the artistic talents of his late friend alive by acquiring his work and sharing it with the world.
To that end, Benny Dunfee established Loup Creek Art in early 2005 — a company that he hopes will one day lead to a museum of sorts for the plentiful artwork of Billy Foster. Dunfee also has dreams of writing a book on the subject.
Foster, a little known artist from Johnson Branch, succumbed to cancer last September at the age of 64. Despite his incarceration in the Moundsville penitentiary when he was 18, Foster spent the next 28 years in prison creating thousands of pen and ink drawings, as well as oil paintings.
His favorite themes included coal mining, wildlife and rural West Virginia. Dunfee said Foster was an avid admirer of Frederic Remington and Charles M. Russell, both depicters of the American West and Civil War scenes.
Dunfee began buying artwork from his friend upon Foster’s release from prison in 1989. “I just liked Billy,” he said.
“He had a rough life, and buying that helped him. He didn’t trust anybody, but one day he came down and I traded him an antique bicycle for some art. Billy was rough, I’m telling you. The last couple of years he really opened up to me and had faith and trust in me. He saw that I wasn’t out to gouge him. That really made me feel good.”
Foster may be best known for a 1988 calendar of his art work — a different piece for each month — that was given to then-Gov. Arch Moore while Foster was in prison. He also did a painting on pig skin of “Old Sparky” — Moundsville’s electric chair from the days when West Virginia still employed capital punishment.
Dunfee added that the Moundsville prison — now a museum — has a wall known as Billy Foster’s wall. On it hang six pictures done by the former resident artist. Dunfee now has those on canvas in his collection.
“I would say that I have over 50 (pieces of Foster’s art) that I can work with. I don’t own the rights to all of those. I have photos and things that I’ve accumulated through researching. I eventually want to publish a book with 50 of his best paintings.”
A former Moundsville prison guard and her husband are helping Dunfee collect information on Foster, and the research has already yielded some rather unexpected fruit.
“I had a woman call me recently and said that she was Foster’s daughter from Paden City, up around Moundsville. He never said anything about a daughter. I thought it was a lie, but I got to talking to people up there and he lived in Paden City for awhile. He may have gotten a lady pregnant. I would say she is his child.”
Dunfee doesn’t give up. He is currently working on getting his business license to sell prints of Foster’s art, and he is seeking any information he can find on his friend. He has even shared brochures with Charleston’s Clay Center, though he has yet to hear a response.
“I’m not a quitter. If I can get a book together with this art, I think it will go well, and I plan to donate a percentage of the proceeds to cancer prevention. I’ve invested about $20,000 so far in this. I breathe it 24/7. It’s like a challenge for me.”
Dunfee urges anyone with information on Foster or his artwork to call 779-9303 or to send him an e-mail at loupcreekart@yahoo.com.

Billy Foster (1941 - 2005)

Born in Johnson Branch, West Virginia in 1941, the artist discovered his talent for drawing at an early age by drawing pictures on sheetrock walls.

Although he went down the wrong path in life and was incarcerated at Moundsville State Penitentiary at the young age of 18, he never forgot his passion for his artwork.

In the 28 years that he spent in prison, he created and sold thousands of his pen and ink drawings and oil paintings.  Billy used his drawings to escape the life behind bars.  He has stated that as he was creating a picture, "I lived in that picture and not behind the bars that I had to call home."

Moundsville State Penitentiary, which opened in 1866, was officially closed and turned into a museum in 1995.  Today you can still view six of his most renown paintings on the walls at the prison.  We will have prints of these paintings available for purchase in the near future, as well as other artwork that he created in prison and during the remaining days of his life.
