About
Kiew Nikon
Pron: q ny-con
Kiew has been involved in music and art for so long that he says it is hard to separate the mediums used to be an ARTIST. Yes, call him an artist since he does not take the title "rapper" lightly. More as an insult. He has performed with many well known artists and still creates music to this day...obviously. He started out as a turntabalist at the age of 15 then migrated to writing and producing music by the age of 16. He became a part of the crew known as the "Sarkastiks". He has performed with a buttload of people like: Living Legends, Del tha Funkyhomosapien, Alkaholiks, Styles of Beyond, Visionaries, Pep Love, Souls of Mischief, De La Soul, Kool Kieth, Motionman and many others. He has been in the group Sick Mediks as one of the co-founders of SubM2 with Eos Montana, Davis Cleveland, and Kujo Rock.
His music has been called "futuristic", "innovative", "refreshing" and has been compared to the likes of Aesop Rock and Saafir mixture. But ask him and he will tell you that he is constantly innovating his art form. He has appeared on many recordings from Dub albums working his native West Indian champion sound, Sick Mediks albums (4-5 to be exact) to various compilations. He is also well known for his creative eye and artistic expression with multimedia design from directing his own videos and movies to paintings with multiple mediums. He has done work for Adidas and Sameunderneath clothing company to name a couple and does not show a sign of stopping. He stated that he would like to work with Mike Patton, Roots Manuva, Aesop Rock, and others. Here is a total package so don't be intimidated easily.
He currently is signed to the label Substance Mixed Media and will be releasing albums through them real soon. The first album to come out of the Subm2 camp is called "Udoncahmenomah" (You don't call me no more.) produced by long time friend Clint Partie and co-produced by Kiew Nikon himself. This album is named what it is since the producer of the album made the beats then disappeared off the face of the map and Kiew Nikon decided to make an album exclusively with his beats since he could not get a hold of him. So thats the story so far...
