About

They say to stand out, one must be different. When the whole world goes left, you go right. Well, that’s d motto that music producer/beatmaker, Kunle Oluwadiya aka Kid Konnect has adopted through life. Born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria. Kid Konnect fell in love with music at a young age, listening to reggae and classical music with his father on early Saturday mornings, as a way to duck his chores, Konnect learnt early the basics of composing music.
As he matured, so did his love and knowledge for all genres of music. When most of his classmates were reciting their favorite rhymes from various rap songs, Konnect opted to celebrate every aspect of the instrumental, from the loud kick or bass, to the carefully hidden echoes of the hihats. Kid Konnect left Nigeria for the United States in 2001 to pursue a degree in Business Economics (which he knew in his heart of hearts, was a career he didn’t want). While in school, Konnect’s roommate introduced him to music production software named FL Studio. At first making a whole lot of techno beats, Konnect dedicated himself to mastering the program in and out to produce industry worthy beats.
After 3½ years of hard work and dedication, Konnect started sending beats out to anybody who would listen, feedback was slow but sure enough it came. A little buzz started to circulate around his name among the local scene in North Carolina and a few ears in the Nigerian music scene took notice. Konnect got his biggest compliment in the fall of 2006, when he was introduced to Ludacris (DTP Records) backstage of a concert, through one of his (Konnect) fraternity brothers.
Konnect only had one cd with 5 beats, but to his surprise…..Ludacris liked everyone. Ludacris told Konnect “I can’t help you right now….but you have a future in this business”. As for now, Konnect is still out making a name for himself. He feels that the summer of 2007 will kick off a few things for him in the naija music scene. He produced what he feels will be the “anthem” for the summer for Trybe records’ artist OlaDELe, whose album is scheduled for release May 25th 2007, and the single will be released in early May. All in all Kid Konnect is a name to watch out for the future, when it comes to music production.
