The O’My’s, Chicago’s dynamic funk and soul group, were conceived in the summer of 2007, when high school rivals, vocalist Maceo Haymes and pianist Nick Hennessey joined forces to make sweet music. Since then, The O’My’s have become one of the most adored bands in the Chicago music scene, drawing sold out crowds to venues across the city. The band’s two front men grew up on Chicago music and are products of the city’s rich history of soul and blues. Maceo’s Black and Cuban-American community exposed him to a wide range of music as he was growing up, which inspired Maceo to start playing Latin percussion, drums and piano at a young age. As a teenager, Maceo picked up the guitar and taught himself to play, write songs, and develop his commanding voice. Nick was born in Wicker Park, Chicago, and raised on its vibrant Art & Music scene. When he wasn’t busy skateboarding, he spent his teenage years learning Jazz piano from Chicago legends such as Ramsey Lewis and Willie Pickens. It was around this same time that he discovered his talent and passion for songwriting and began composing some of his own music. Borrowing from Chicago’s rich blues and soul history, The O’My’s make honest music for everyday people. The O’My’s have mixed raw talent with thought provoking subject matter. Simply put, The O’My’s make Rock’n’Soul. Their full-length album A Humble Masterpiece was released in October 2013.
