Just returned from their National Tour, KEYIM BA are back and ready to release their much awaited for new album – ‘Mami Wata’ – bringing the influences of reggae, funk and rap to West African grooves. 'Mami Wata', recorded at The Grove and Rifton Records, is expected to take Australian world music lovers by storm. A clever mix of traditional sounds with an urban groove, very much Keyim Ba's signature sound.
The West African Festival showcases the very best of African – Australian music, providing a platform for new and exciting collaborations between West African and Australian musicians. Presenting many of Australia’s most prominent West African musicians and dancers of both African and Australian origin, the festival also encourages Australian musicians who have been heavily influenced by African music in their artistic development. The festival is a day/night event; an innovative arts and cultural activity presenting high caliber artists, workshops with world-class teachers, authentic African food & relevant stalls of interest. In its third year running, the West African Festival will be developing and expanding the artistic program in 2012 to include a community stage for upcoming artists a high quality dance program.
