Bio

A storytelling singer songwriter that ranks with the very best. Highly traveled, highly seasoned, and highly original. Usually performs solo, and doesn't lack for a thing to the audience. Confident and funny onstage, warm and genuine offstage, this one's a keeper.

About

"He's like Leonard Cohen with a sense of humour...”

"His lyrics are so warm and earnest and hopeful. He's such a great musician. He is such a great storyteller. He is the best kind of folksinger."

"You are every bit as good as Chuck Brodsky."

"That song about driving through the snow storm made me tear up."

"That tune about John Allan Cameron is your 'Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands', dude. Stunning."

Kev Corbett is one of the best of Eastern Canada's bumper crop of fine young songwriters. His new album, 'Son of a Rudderless Boat' features 10 acoustic-flavored tracks that both engage and entertain, with zinger lyrics and a sound that borrows from classic folk, bluegrass, blues and jazz, without getting too cozy with any of those descriptors. His recent coming-out party at the Lunenburg Folk Festival in Nova Scotia earned him a long standing ovation, and a buzz status among the crowd and industry vets alike for the weekend. He has placed twice in the Telluride Bluegrass Festival song contest, and played legendary folk rooms The Yellow Door (Montreal), The Free Times Cafe (Toronto), and Club Passim (Cambridge MA). His music gets played both regionally and nationally on Canadian public radio, and he tours more and more every year. Visit www.kevcorbett.com
