Bio

I am a self-taught fingerstyle guitarist who composes and performs original instrumental guitar music. Talk about a niche.

The most common question I get is "What do you call your music?". Is fojazzical a genre? I just use whatever type of music will tell the story I'm trying to tell, so I use themes found in Celtic, American Folk, Blues, Jazz, Classical, even Rock and Roll.

Over the past 15 years I've released 4 solo albums, and 2 duo albums. All of my solo albums have been in the Top 20 on instrumental charts, and I've played all over North America in rooms like Cafe Lena, Club Passim, The Bluebird Cafe, Eddie's Attic, The Grey Eagle, Clark Place, Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, Kent State Folk Festival and many others.

About

In 2006, as I was contemplating my return to the music business, I decided I wanted to do something in addition to solo shows, and I've developed a concert event called Artistry of the Guitar with anchor artist,  guitarist Peter Janson.  For all practical purposes it's a traveling guitar festival, as we quite often add one or two other guest guitarists to the bill.  Whenever possible we include a workshop for guitarists to share our knowledge and experience with others so that they can get the most out of their own guitar artistry.

We all gather on stage in a semi-circle swapping songs, and quite often jamming along with each other.  While all of the guitarsts are wonderful solo guitarists, the styles and genres they represent are wide ranging; everything from Bach to rock, Celtic to New Age, and showcase the myried styles of music and techniques available to the guitarist.  Artists who've been part of these shows include, Tony Geballe, Jeffrey Hamilton Steele (no he's not a porn star), Michael Manring, Teja Gerken,Larry Allen Brown, Brooks Williams, and Dakota Dave Hull.
