About

Kamal Sabran & Super Friends is a compilation of sound collaboration project.

collaborators:

1) Antonio Mainenti (Italy)

(b. 1978, Sicily, Italy) is a singer, musician, composer and instrument builder. His first sound experiences, when he’s five years old, are made with a red and black Phonola tape recorder: he records sounds of environment, unusual bawls, rattles and improvisations. The tapes have gone lost. He’s ten years old when he starts studying guitar and music theory. During his teen years he begins his first musical experiences in rock, folk and improvised music.

He learned the art of gambus under the tutelage of Raja Gambus Malaysia, Fadzil Ahmad.

Dewangga Sakti has released an EP called Mabok Kepayang in June 2008 and currently working on full album scheduled to be recorded in 2009. Apart from performing at formal and non-formal functions, the band also involved with Tourism Malaysia promotion abroad (China, Taiwan and Japan).

For this track, he is using a Turkish oud. The Oud track was recorded at a studio in KL (August 2007) and originally intended for a documentary (which he helped to produce the music).

 12) Lily Taylor (California)

"What can I say about the lovely Lily Taylor? We had no idea she was a smoky, noir heroine, straight out of a back room jazz hall with dirty floors and a secret password to get in. Lily's lucent blue vocals have a subtle fierceness that buoys every note and leaves you staring at the sky, wondering why it stays up there when it could come down and listen. This girl can break my heart anytime." -The Process."Lily Taylor... has a jaw-dropping beautiful voice which she uses to fan the embers of slow ballads." -David Kaye of the Music Box Series in San Francisco*** From Boston to Dallas to Santa Fe to San Francisco, Lily Taylor captures the attention of audiences of all kinds. She attended College of Santa Fe, and obtained a BA in Contemporary Music with a focus in vocal studies. Taylor now teaches voice lessons, performs, and composes.
