Bio

Jubal plays with several ensembles. The Rude Boys are one of Boulder's Premiere Reggae bands. Their sets consist of mostly rare gem covers of roots reggae, some ska and a few originals. The Rude Boys also are the backbone of a few other local acts including The Bizung Family, Selasee and The Fafa Family, Frikus and The Hooligans, and The Jubal Trio AKA The 2High Trio. Jubal also performs solo and with his acoustic ensemble, as well as the improv act Lucid Alouishes.

About

The Rude Boys, led by front-man Jubal, the band has performed all over colorado. They've been playing together for nearly five years and it shows. They are an extremely tight outfit. Though they do perform more than a handful of original tunes, their sets consist of mostly rare gem covers of roots reggae and some ska. The Rude Boys also are the backbone of a few other local acts including The Bizung Family (http://Bizung.com), Selasee and The Fafa Family, Frikus and The Hooligans, and The Jubal Trio. The Rude Boys performed at the first annual Tatanka Festival on The Boulder Reservoir, which included a few songs from Mohammed Alidu Bizung. Jubal also helped to organize the Tatanka After-Show following The Disco Biscuits Set on Sunday. Jubal sat in with Biscuits' drumer Allen Aucoin for a good majority of the late night set along with midi-sax player, Cecil "Peanut" Daniels. In early summer '08, Jubal was part of an All-Star cast including Billy Nershi from String Cheese incident, among other local music greats, that performed Pink Floyd's Dark Side of The Moon along with the laser light show in Boulder at the CU Planetarium. Jubal sang harmonies, played guitar, and bass on this performance. The HD DVD will be forthcoming. Jubal has been writing and performing his own music for more than twenty years. He is a multi-instrumentalist with his forte being the guitar. Jubal graduated from The University of Arizona with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and a Music Theory and Composition minor. Jubal has played his unique style of music all over the country, including both coasts and in between. He is masterful with acoustic and electric guitars. He is a solid rhythm, and burning lead player. He adds to the music a color not often seen in a guitar player. Jubal is also an adept working bass player. He occasionally collaborates with other bands as a percussionist. He sings powerful melody and precise harmony vocals of his own composed lyrics as well as cover songs and improvisation. Depending upon the venue, Jubal can be seen playing instrumental jazz, solo acoustic shows, performances with "The Rude Boys" reggae band, playing Bass with Alidu Bizung's West African ensemble, pastin' faces on the wall with his blistering improv project "Lucid Alouishes," or his awe inspiring looping performances in which he utilizes a Boomerang Digital Sampler to play bass, percussion, rhythm, and lead guitar, as well as sing lead and harmony. Jubal's music, which is comprised of many genres including jazz, reggae, funk, and blues, is somewhat political, soulfully expressive, and often socially satirical. After a 5 year stint in Austin, Texas, where he collaborated with other well-known local Austin bands, and played sometimes five or six nights a week at most venues on the famous "Sixth Street," as well as the staple clubs of South Austin including The Continental Club and The Saxon Pub, Jubal moved to The Front Range of Colorado and has been astounding audiences with his original performances and incredibly versatile musicianship. Jubal is a sound engineer and was consulted for and or ran sound in many of the venues in Austin and elsewhere. Jubal is a nationally published and award winning poet and author. He is published in several nationally released anthologies and has been or is presently a contributing writer for Weird Magazine, The Santa Fe Reporter, The Austin Paratimes News, and the Boulder based music magazine The Marquee. In 2007 Jubal broke into film, writing a composition for the Internationally released documentary "Beauty Mark." Jubal's passion for freedom of thought and expression is clearly audible in songs and lyrics that range from simple inspiring melodies to much more intricate and complicated compositions. http://www.cuezonerecords.com
