Rusty Designz: After spending the good part of 3 years in the cramped lounge of a small flat on a road with no exit, Rusty Designz have built up what, among many things, could be called an "impressively diverse" repetoir of songs and sounds. Constantly striving to find their true sound, they have saught out crowds where-ever they would have them. Commonly at flat house gatherings, they have also thrived when put in front of family and friends in more community driven events, not to mention a couple of placings in local battle of the bands competitions. After playing a sellout show in Auckland, and performing to one of the larger crowds at a street festival in the capital, these among other such successes have reassured the boys of rust that theirs is a sound that people wouldn't mind hearing more often, and with their debut e.p due for a release in early 2013, they are more than steadily on their way to making this the reality. Josh Mason: Josh Mason is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist originally from the Kapiti Coast. After playing in various heavy metal bands he began recording as solo artist in late 2007, and has since then been developing a more classical, acoustic-rock oriented sound. With an eclectic array of influences ranging from bluegrass to symphonic metal (and mostly everything in between), Josh Mason conjures up a unique and diverse sound. His latest EP, 'Set Sail to a Light', was released for free in April 2012 as a precursor for the upcoming full length album 'Celestial'.
With support from Rusty Designz and Terry Shore. Free entry. Doors open 6:30pm, show starts at 7:00pm. http://www.myspace.com/terryshore http://www.facebook.com/pages/Rusty-Designz After nearly a year of intermittent recording, Josh Mason returns to the stage replete with live band to celebrate the release of his new EP 'Set Sail To A Light'. The EP is a 4-track sampling of Josh Mason's unique style of wistful song writing. Combining elements of acoustic, rock and new-age music, it paints sounds and distant sunrises from a youthful and serene land. Physical copies of the EP will be available for free at the show. Josh Mason is a multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter who grew up on the Kapiti Coast. He first began recording solo material in 2009. The result was the experimental conceptual album 'One Day'. One Day captures the beginnings of Mason's emerging acoustic style, whilst also containing older, heavier rock/metal tracks. Since the release of One Day, Josh has played guitar and drums for the melodic-progressive metal act 'Intergracia' and performed his own solo acoustic shows. In early 2011 he began concentrating on developing his individual style and started recording the 'Set Sail To A Light' EP from his home in Pukerua Bay. After programming percussion and recording bass, acoustic/electric guitars, keyboards and vocals, the EP was completed and mastered at STL Audio, Wellington, February 2012. With the EP recently reaching completion, Josh Mason is now set to showcase the material in a live environment. Expect to also see older songs from previous releases and new unreleased material.
