I picked up the paper and tried to remember
Your favorite comic strip
While I sipped on a cold cup of “joe”
I guess I ought to know

But I ain’t read the funnies for 2 years this Sunday
I didn’t feel like smiling ‘till I saw your name
On page six of the State section
In the TIMES yesterday

It said...
“…Friday, July 29 Karen Kimberly died.
She was just 25...left nobody behind…”
And I laughed until I nearly cried

She used to get crazy if the checkout girl gave me
A smile and a “Thank you” or “Have a nice day”
She would get in her face in a cold jealous rage

But then she got unlucky with a local grease monkey
And I turned to drinking to keep me from thinking About how I could kill her
Now it’s already done

Friday, July 29 Karen Kimberly died
She was just 25 when he ended her life
And we’re all better off now she’s gone

Yeah, it’s two years later but I guess I still blame her
For the last hundred hangovers
That I nursed with an Ultimate Cheeseburger
But I’m better today

Because...
Friday, July 29 Karen Kimberly died
She cheated and lied every day of her life
And I can’t say that I was surprised

She was pushed from behind
Down the old Red-Eye Mine
She was buried alive & I guess it ain’t right
But I’m happy & smiling tonight
