I met Joe Raper in the fall of 2006 & I Liked him from the very beginning. Joe was down on his luck, having gone through a nasty divorce, his ex wife took him for every thing that he had.
Joe has been in the music business for a long time, writing his first song when he was 13 years old. He was raised up in beer halls watching his father perform. He learned to play the rhythm, lead, bass & steel guitar himself. Even though he is handicapped, with the tips of his fingers cut off on his left hand that happened in an accident, he still plays better than anyone that I ever heard.
The more I talked to Joe the better I liked him. The Idea of The Gosnell Recording Studio was born in February of 2007. I had the building & in March we stated turning it into a recording studio.I knew the computer end of the business, & Joe knew the recording end of it. He was a country demo singer in Nashville, TN for 8 years.
When we opened the studio in May of 2007 we were just floundering around & not getting much done. One evening I was really down in the dumps. Joe & Linda, (Joe's wife) tried to cheer me up, & nothing worked. Joe got up & went into the singing booth & sang one verse of (My Name Is Roy) that he had made up on the spot. I thought that he was just clowning around. I felt better & went home. I came back the next day & Joe had already written the song (My Name Is Roy). We made a few changes & started laying tracks. We think that the song has international appeal, so we sent it to Nashville, TN, to get a better Nashville sound put on it.The song is about me & some things that I would say to Joe during the course of a business day. After a while things started popping & it seemed like we were recording a new song every other day.
Joe is a great singer, songwriter & performer. In my mind he is a super star. You will love his smooth mellow Alan Jackson style voice on the love songs that he sings on this CD. We decided that we would use some of the local talent also. Randy Roberson has a style that sets him apart from others, CJ Wilder has a Vince Gill Sound, & Jerry Willis has a classic country sound. As for myself I will let the song ( My Name Is Roy) do the talking me. Our style of writing is mainly country pop. No song gets released unless it touches our heart, or lifts our spirit. Every song on this CD has the potential to be a chart topper. So sit back & enjoy a country music feast on all of the songs.This is a songwriter's signature series V-1.
