Joe B. / Press

"Start your weekend at Pastry Art on Main Street with Singer/songwriter Joe Bonfiglio (Joe B.). Joe B. is by far one of my favorite singers in Sarasota. He has a booming voice that really does not need any amplification, which makes it easy to enjoy his bluesy-folk, indie pop sound. It’s no surprise that Joe B is ranked #1 in Sarasota on Reverb Nation; He’s not only an extremely gifted artist but he’s also just an all around great guy. Show 7-10p, no cover."

“Who is Joe B. Anyway? Artist Interview I was curious to know more about Joe, all I really knew was that he is originally from Nassau County, New York and was a High School English Teacher in Hanover, New Hampshire as well as stints at Dartmouth College and area schools in Sarasota and Bradenton. SMS: When and why did you start playing? JB: I started taking lessons at age 7. My first teacher was Mr. Booth who was kind of a Long Island version of a “cool bachelor.” He smoked and drank during my lessons and always was dressed like a 50’s hipster. SMS: What was the first tune(s) you learned? JB: “Hang Down Your Head, Tom Dooley” is the first real song I remember. SMS: What are your fondest musical memories? In your house? In your neighborhood or town? JB: I started playing professionally very young, appearing with my band at the 1964 NY World’s Fair. We would practice at Larry Reingold’s house and then go to Jahn’s, a LI institution.”

“Here is a web interview with Bud Buckley and Jax Resto on their show "Artistic Mashup." Click on the link for show #4.”

“Joe B. A solo artist since 2009, Joe B. has a sound akin to Cat Stevens and James Taylor, and has been recording and performing since the early 1960s. He showcases originals and covers at countrywide venues and corporate events.”

“Music Blog: Noise Ordinance 3 band announcement By Dawn Scire, Herald-Tribune / Tuesday, August 21, 2012 It’s hee-ere: the list of Noise Ordinance 3 CD inductees. Noise Ordinance 3 The 36 original musicians chosen for the two-disc, 941-area compilation and its accompanying colossal release fest...[includes] Joe B. .... This collection of hardworking unsigned artists is powerful, iinclusive (spanning the spectrum of ska, metal, blues, rock, world, folk, surf, singer-songwriter, eclectic, artsy, experimental and beyond) and, frankly, exciting. Thanks are in order for the tireless two-person NO crew/creators/coordinators Claire Franklin and Ed Midler who assessed 80+ entries and will now endeavor to produce the third annual NO3 product and 12-hour lollapalooza-like celebration (Nov. 10 at Sarasota’s Cock & Bull Pub).”

“Joe B. back with new music: If you want to know what introspective Palmetto singer/guitarist and composer Joe. B. (aka Joe Bonfiglio) has been up to, just listen to his music. The semi-retired educator records his life experiences spontaneously and prolifically, with a recent road trip to New Hampshire yielding at least seven new tracks in just a few weeks. The soothing tenor’s current musical biography traverses the region he stayed (“Daybreak [New Hampshire Morning]”), visiting a friend (“Old Friends Call”), even the drive itself (“The Road North”) — all of which (plus more than 70 others) are available for listening and download online at Bonfiglio’s ReverbNation page (reverbnation.com/joeblive). See him live 7-9 p.m. Aug. 9 at The Coffee Loft‘s (5025 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota) songwriters showcase (also featuring Bill Vinhage and Michael Miller); and 7-10 p.m. Aug. 10, solo, at downtown Sarasota’s Pastry Art..."”
