Bio
Jimmie Van Zant was born in Jacksonville, Florida, a city known as “the home of southern rock royalty.”
His mother spent hours every day playing gospel tunes on the family’s upright piano encouraging Jimmie to start piano and guitar lessons at the age of six. Jimmie’s home continued to be filled with music whenever cousin Ronnie Van Zant used his living room as a rehearsal space for the band that eventually became Lynyrd Skynyrd.

“On this nite I knew that Jimmie and his band would have big trouble getting this crowd to liven up. They definitely had their work cut out for them. Now if you know anything about Jimmie and his band they can be likened to a bottle of fine wine, with age they get better and better. Opening the set with That's How I Like It off of Vicious Cycle, the crowd started to wake up and realize this is the REAL DEAL. The band belted out a couple more Skynyrd favorites like Traveling Man and one of Hootys all time favorites Cry for the Bad Man. Than the band unleashed three new songs off the their soon to be released CD. 100 Proof, Ray Ray's Juke Joint and Reason, the crowd never knew what hit them, they never seen that punch coming but it floored the entire crowd when the band played them cuts off their new CD. Cowboy Cal laid out some Lead guitar tracks on Simple Man that I couldn't believe that only one person was playing it if I didn't see it with my own two eyes.”
