Eclectic vocal ensemble Jewelsong announces the release of their first CD, "The Beauty We Love," with music from spiritual traditions around the world, including songs inspired by words from Mother Theresa of Calcutta, Sufi mystic poets Rumi and Hafiz, a Buddhist sutra, and a Hawaiian blessing. All the music on this CD was written or arranged by Jewelsong.
Jewelsong is Betsy Bickel, Farrunnissa Lila Rosa, Marilyn Grubbs, and Sofianna Sue-Anne Solem and their music defies categorization. They have been musicians most of their lives and have been singing together in the NC Triangle and surrounding areas since 2001. They are sought-after performers at faith gatherings throughout the Southeast, and were the featured guest musicians at the "Passion of the Mother" ArtShine grand opening in 2005. They have also performed at the NC State Green Party Convention, the NC Dennis Kucinich Rally, the "Art and the Feminine Divine" festival, and are regular performing artists at the Carrboro Music Festival.
