There were twenty four angels on his side that night
Twelve that caused his broken heart and twelve that caused the fight
The broken boy was all alone deep inside the man
The guardians sat there staring as he cried into his hand

He said “So you call this justice, I call it holy hell
Where were all your voices before the sounding of the bell?
I’ve had better help from strangers who won’t look at me at all
Now I have twenty something ghosts doing nothing as I fall.”

That were sitting next to me

He dusted off his pride and he wiped away his tears
Put a wall around his sorrow and buried all his fears
While he knew he wasn’t soloing on that cold November night
His thanks had bottomed out before the last round of his fight

She watched him hit the floor and saw the angels taking flight
There were other wholesome souls out there for the taking on that night
The girl knocked on the wall and kissed the ground that held his pain
Her eyes had bought his freedom from the twenty somethings’ reign
