Jennie and David present The People's Cabaret, a witty and loving musical history lesson, which surveys 150 years of songs of the left. Earl Robinson, Brecht, Richard Dyer-Bennett, Woody Guthrie, Harold Rome, and a pair of surprises by Irving Berlin himself! Part of the 2-day Dissident Arts Festival, a showcase of cultural workers and a bridge between the arts and the progressive activist community. We feature a great span of just what protest art is: radical avant garde Jazz, topical Folk, dissentful performance poetry, revolutionary New Music, social justice film and theatre, post-Punk dissidence, progressive Pop and the cabaret of social change. *8/18 will open with a film screening of 'THE CULTURE OF RESISTANCE' at 4 and then the concert will run from 6 through 11.
